I generally take a trip to the loo to void the old bladder,

On that note, I started my first ever "permanent" medication today.

Bloody hell, hope everything OK mate.

yeah no problem, the medication is just meant to stop multiple nocturnal trips to the toilet, so not uncommon.

Just a bit of a life stage though as it's the first time I've had a "this isn't going to go away so just take these pills for ever" kind of condition.

In my experience of a similar condition the "rubber gloves" appointment was the nadir - well not so much the appointment but the dread of it.

I've always been a regular wee-er (How the fuck do you write that properly?

I got to the point when it was every half-hour, I though I had a bladder the size of a walnut. Eventually I went to the doctors and he sent me for some tests.

When I got there a nurse who looked like Ernest Borgnine  stripped me off and told me to stand in a shower cubicle. Then produced a yard of rubber tubing, one end she shoved up my Johnson, the other she fixed to a funnel, then she proceeded to fill me up.

"Tell me when you need a wee so bad that, if you had the first 5 numbers on the lottery, you wouldn't be able to hang on to hear the 6th called out"

About four gallons later, I reached that point.

So I don't have a tiny bladder, I have a sensitive one. I was advised to re-train it by waiting an extra 10 minutes when I wanted to go to the loo, and slowly increasing it to an hour.

It worked to an extent, but once every year or so, old bladdery slips into his old ways and I have to give him a refresher course.

Ah... the thwack of rubber, the heady aroma of vulcanisation...

When I had some heart issues and was retaining water (like a big fat water balloon ready to pop, literally seeping out of me :-) I took some diuretic pills. I don't have any issues with water retention at all these days but have somehow contrived to keep an open prescription for them. So I pop one a night when I'm not going out at about 6, pee like a good un for 4-5hrs and then once I go to bed I never have to get up to have a pee in the night - highly recommended for an uninterrupted sleep.

Well I do and I don't. I get the 'Shunt em all up one to leave the first room vacant' idea, but I don't understand how it got full in the first place.

Hanna, (Were on first name terms now) is however infinitely more attractive than prof Brian Cox.

Excellent episode. I speshly liked the electro-magnetic stuff.

Hey Tom - very interesting programme on Gypsies on BBC Four last night, which I’m sure you saw.

Lots of archive footage from the 60s and 70s including Billy Welch’s uncle being interviewed and looking and sounding *exactly* like him.

Tom, do you still have your camper?
i’ve been trying to find the posts in this thread to look back at your work but since I can’t remember when you built it it’s been like looking for a needle in a haystack. Or a few posts in 2000+ pages.

I wonder if people would tell me about their sleeping patterns?

For this last few months I have been too tired to say up beyond midnight, but I wake up around 4am and have no further interest in sleeping.

4am is too early to get up so I lie there listening to the radio until about 6am when I usually nod off again. At 7am when it's time to get up I feel like I could sleep forever.

In Germany this has a name, they call it Senile Bettflucht - Senile Bed Escape!

Get older, wake up really early and compensate with an afternoon nap.

I get it too. I am 38.  I usually get up and put a load of sports bets on a 5am, then go back to bed.
