The bike made a clatter and I made sort of boomf sound, like someone kicking a space-hopper.

Great description.

You've still got that canny way with words Tom - at least that survived unscathed.

HNY to your bruised self and the girls.

Bill Werbeniuk would’ve been 74 yesterday.
Among the many stories (true or not) about him is that he once had a drinking contest with equally thirsty Scottish pro Eddie Sinclair.
Legend has it Bill won 42 pints to 41 (Eddie passing out) before heading to the bar for a social drink.

He claimed the drink on his taxes as well. What a man! Cheesy

Bill was a good friend of mine, we played together a lot and I would often accompany him and his manager Robert Mans to tournaments.

Bill was a fantastic player but unfortunately he was his own worst enemy. He had a tremor in the shoulder of his cue arm and to calm it he would drink about 5 pints of larger before playing, (He called it "Getting in stroke") and one pint per frame thereafter.

The tremor was real, but it was still there after endless largers so I think the drinking hindered more than it helped. Especially as he would often demonstrate shots for us when he was stone cold sober and cue them beautifully, tremor not withstanding.

Bill lived alone in a converted bus behind a car Dealership in Worksop. He liked to cook and would often invite me round to have a bite to eat and watch sports on telly.

Morning Tom.

Here's something for your scrapsbook. A few interesting comments.

We choose our chippies based on whether they do scraps.

Back in the day you could also get fish bits, namely, scraps with bits of fish stuck to them.

What's happened to proper vinager BTW?
Once upon a time if you got a good whiff of hot vinager while dousing your chips you would be coughing for half an hour.

I don't get it.

Trump's 4 years in office seem to have been torture for him. Why didn't he just stay in one of his many resorts and enjoy all the trappings?

If it was me I would have been sitting in the florida sunshine, ordering new tyres for the camper and having pudding & chips flown in from Stockport.
