Bridie done broke her iPhone.

Anyone upgrading/selling?

Just take it into a Genius bar at an Apple store. They insta fixed mine and replaced Kerrys no questions asked.

If you are travelling at 35mph, and you brake, what speed do you think you will be doing when you reach the point you would have stopped at if you had been doing 30mph?

Depends on the car you're driving and how efficient it's brakes are.

Like Dan says it's not the speed that is the sole factor in any motor related incident.

On Top Gear they teseted the McClaren SLR to see how quickly it would stop. The highway code says the stopping distance is 240ft at 60mph. The Slr stopped in the same distance from 120mph.

So which is safest? A McClaren SLR doing 120 or a clapped out old banger with knackered brakes doing 60? Well if you're stood 240ft away from the point they see you I know which one I'd rather be facing.

This one is second hand with a shattered screen,  will there be any hope?

What about if I show a bit of leg and bat my eyelids

We're talking averages here, and I bet they would be pretty much the same across the board if you included an F16 Falcon and a pregnant elephant.

Can't hurt , I wasn't asked for anything I just booked an appointment and they sorted it. Kerrys wasnt the only phone to be replaced , they were giving them out like candy. Mebbe they can offer a reconditioned one its worth trying for sure.

This.

70mph on an icy or very wet motorway in poor visibility can be very, very dangerous.

85mph on the same motorway in dry, clear conditions is not inherently dangerous.

One is 'speeding', the other is inappropriate/dangerous speed.

Also doing 35mph in a residential area near a school is far more dangerous than doing 100mph on a clear motorway on a fine day.

I'm hoping this applies massively when they pass judgement on technically ban-able offences. Sad

That's the problem.  They don't.  There is a ridiculous focus on speeding and arbitrary speed limits that can be enforced with cameras and minimum effort, rather than looking at drunk-driving, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, mot, etc.

Why is it that every tenth car you pass has only one headlight, and no one ever seems to get stopped for it.

I know I got pulled on J23 of the M1 for doing on avg 101-110 down the two sweeping hills before the loughborough junction. Im going to have to bite my tongue in court or i'll probably get some kind of punishment for showing no respect !!

The copper who pulled me said it would be most likely a 1-3 week ban. Dont worry though when I passed him earlier at leicester (he was doing 60 in the inside) I was pootling at 80 in the outside and the car that was attempting to undertake me in the middle then saw the copper and smashed on the breaks is in no way in the wrong! I'm a danger to the other 0 road users that were around my car when I sped.

In the cop car he goes did you see me.

I said, yes went past at 80 at leicester and explained that sorry but 80s fine in my book pull me for that if you want, im not going to slam on my breaks like other people.

'he turned and said'

'80's not good! son'

I right clicked on his player name and wrote 'moron'.

I so want Kinboshi to go on one of those ... I want to be a fly on the wall when he starts arguing that "speed does not kill"

Sir you should have come to my Red Light Awareness Course.

The little man who ran the course took great pleasure in being constantly patronising. If you haven't seen me rant then say back raise where it's not applicable and watch me go. This little man told us at the start it was going to be a 2 hour course and we HAD to all talk and get involved. He kept pestering me to answer a question early doors which was so moronic that it set me off.

Suffice it to say that after 2 and a half hours we were let go, and at least half the room thanked me for making them not have to talk through the whole thing, even if the argument went on so long we over ran.
(btw I was right)

In the midst of this joke, he asked a room of 20 (red light offenders, of which only I acknowledged I knew what i'd done even though there is a picture of 20 cars going through 20 red lights!) to order the changing of a set of traffic lights

green, amber, red and amber, red. those 4 options..... put them in order.

Myself and the other ~20 year old got it right, as did the guy to the other youngsters right who copied him. Everyone else was completely clueless and got it wrong.

I so thought you'd been kerb-crawling.

During the speed awareness training, the instructor talked about maintaining a safe distance between ourselves and the vehicle in front.

"Wait until the car in front passes a marker, i.e, a lamp post or a bridge or something, and then time how long it takes for your car to reach the same point. In fine weather, with good visibility, you should be at least two seconds behind"

"How do you time two seconds without staring at your wristwatch while driving? Well, it takes approximately two seconds to say "Only a fool breaks the two second rule"

The instructor then told us that if driving conditions were less than perfect, we should extend the gap to four seconds. "Now how would you do that?" He asked.

We all wrote that we would repeat the mantra twice, thereby doubling the time it takes to say it.

All that is, except one poor unfortunate. He wrote:

Change it to "Only a fool breaks the four second rule"

Cheesy

Thing is though, the speed limit doesn't increase in good conditions, or decrease in poor conditions.  Why not?

it does decrease down south where we can afford those electronic signs. they change it for fog and stuff. sadly though they never increase it
