v.nice pic tighty, i went to a place called tong today, beautiful scenes. as usual forgot my camera (well technically the missus did but i'm not one to blame!)
PS
kill the moles!!
Tonge is a lovley place isn't it Soviet, just round the corner from me. Im about 6/4 you were trudging around the garden centre. ;o)
lol! not at all, we walked down a bridal path that led to a stream at the bottom of a golf course, we then walked up along side the stream and got to a farm (i think chicken/egg farm) as there were these huge silver feeders that I assume were for chickens, could be wrong as I know nothing about this sort of thing.
In fairness it was a lovely walk, really nice scenes and the dog loved it. hope to go back when it is less icy as i nearly went for a tenner on numerous occasions!

Did the chicken place look like this?
PS - move the moles and don't give them a map to get back. Simples.

Its lovely around there isnt it, the Six Acres do a great roast cavery if you get there again. Deffo good value when you got a raging hunger after walking. I played a lot of bad golf on the golf course thru the summer too. My golf scores got higher but my weight went down a little with all the walking.

You can pay and play all thru the week and technically the weekend too but there are so many society days and Course members comps at the weekend that its best to avoid those days
I tend to walk the other way from Drighlington thru the the village and over the feids down to the junction 27 area have a cuppa down there and then walk back again. Tho I do tske roughly the same walk as you took now and again. Do you live nearby too?

1) How did you get that stunning photo of that Mole Tom? Was it from google images?
2) Please explain - I need technical evidence on this - what a "shebang" is, & why are shebangs usually whole?
According to Wiki
Shebang is a slang term for the matter at hand, as in the phrase, "the whole shebang". The word is also slang for a party, gathering or event, such as "I'm throwing a little shebang at the barn tonight".
The origin of the word is the American Civil War. A shebang was a tent-like hovel made from clothes and blankets that Union prisoners of war made and lived in inside the Andersonville prison camp in the Confederate state of Georgia. The camp officials provided no shelter at all for the prisoners of this notorious open-air camp.
Google provided the mole pic. The fabulous one of the damaged thumb is my own. (And subject to copyright).
PS- I hope to be able to post pictures of deceased moles in the very near future.
Please don't kill the moles.
You own the land but only in human terms, the animals have every right to share it.
See. Now I'm on the horns of a dilemma. Tony has asked me not to kill the moles, but he's put forward a flawed argument.
Tony and I debate a lot of things in private, but he's decided to go public with this, fair enough.
I know that he's an animal lover, but he knows that I'm an animal lover too, so from that aspect. we're starting on a level playing field.
Right. this is my opening salvo.
The moles are causing a real nuisance. they are depositing a wheelbarrow full of soil right in front of the doorstep of each caravan every night. Even if someone doesn't trip over it in the dark, and I shovel it up every morning, it's still making the ground subside, and causing us to walk muddy footprints all over Mrs Red's carpet.
Tony. What would you do in my position?
What would you do if you had a mouse chewing holes in your skirting boards, or a squirrel chewing the wiring in your loft?
What do you do if you have cockroaches in your pantry, or a wasp's nest in the porch?
Why do you eat chicken when there are perfectly good sprouts available?
BTW- You don't have to win the argument to save the moles, you could have accomplished that by simply asking.

Why don't you set Kizzy on the moles, after all isn't that what Yorkies are bred to do, ratting and the like ?

Moles move along 1in diamiter underground tunnels at a speeds of up to 10mph. they never venture above ground.
Dogs can't catch em.

Of no assistance in the debate as to whether or not moles have rights, but it does have some helpful hints...

I seem to remember the mole problem from long ago in this thread Red. Did you ever try dropping the musical part of a musical christmas card into their tunnels? It's meant to drive them off (it'd certainly work for me...)

You said moles are scared of the scent of humans. Drop a pair of your old underpants down there and panic the feck out of them.
