How much (Roughly) does it cost pw to heat a 2/3 bedroom house during the winter months?

Just checked our last four bills... gas usage came out at £8.70 / week over the year, that includes heat, hot water and cooking for a [smallish] 3 bed detached house - just two people.

8.70 a week ?

our gas comes in at about 140 quid a month.

Do you live in a castle?

My gas costs about £45 a month but that's heating, hot water and cooking. That's for a reasonably big 4 bed house although there's only me in it so I don't heat every room.

Have you got an old boiler? Perhaps you could buy her a jumper. I saved about £30 per month when I switch to a nice efficient combi boiler.

No, you are getting confused. That's how much Scotland sell their entire natural gas production each month to England for. It was ours originally, after all.

I live with one other chap in a 7 bedroomed house and the gas bill is ridic even though I try to only heat 3 rooms (2 bedrooms and my grindatorium).
£120/month or something like that, and it's freezing every time I go to the potty.

Only another 6 months or something here, then I'm moving somewhere tiny and warm.

Erm, that's because they barely produce any gas. It's mostly oil up there. For gas you want to go NE of Norfolk, which despite what a lot of people would wish, is part of England.

The Scots can have their oil, IMHO, as long as they take their MPs back Smiley.

Did you know we're still pumping oil out the ground in East Notts? Not many people know that. Potentially a fair bit down there - I've heard they're actually going to drill a new well fairly soon.

Random thread sidetracks ftw.

My electric bill for the last quarter was £466.48p

Complained to e-on about it got past around different departments and was advised to keep quiet cos i was on a good rate.

Burnt 2750 kwh.

It was still peeing me off so i had another go at them today, got a result, was told my contract comes up for renewal in February so i can have the best rate if i pay by direct debit.

Outcome, for burning the same 2750 kwh my payment on new contract will be £242.17p.
Saving me £224.31p

Robbing barstewards springs to mind, good job i could be bothered to have another go at them.

Hope this helps others to have a go at them.

At my old house, LPG heating was £80 a month d.d, then obv some electric on top of that.
Ive moved now and have oil (the tank cost £650 to fill up iirc), so no idea how much that is costing per month/week untill i refill and calculate.

Yes - at a place called Eakring. I did a lot of CE work there down the years. Amazingly, when I first did (sub-contract CE work) there, the oil was pumped by nodding donkeys!

Btw- What's happening at Clifton power station?

During the last few months, they've turned it into a fortress complete with double fencing, razor wire, arc lights, spots, and pairs of armed guards patrolling the perimeter.
