Hi Dawn,

Tom is fine & dandy, & doing just fine. He's kinda busy these days - happy busy, too. We chatted today, in fact.

Hopefully, he'll be back soon. You know what these fickle "here one day, gone the next" guys are like.

Cheers Tony.  Great to hear things are going well for him.  Best regards next time ye speak.  And if happen to meet him to pass on said regards, maybe throw in a wee man hug too.   Wink

Never thought about it before but are sporadic (as in adjective used to describe diary) and spore (as in bacteria) from a common root?

The bacteria spore survive extreme conditions in a passive state and then when conditions are right they survive to crack on and thrive again.

Apparently so... (well, the common root anyway)

Main Entry: spo·rad·ic
Pronunciation: \spə-ˈra-dik\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Medieval Latin sporadicus, from Greek sporadikos, from sporadēn here and there, from sporad-, sporas scattered; akin to Greek speirein to sow
Date: circa 1689
: occurring occasionally, singly, or in irregular or random instances <sporadic protests> <a sporadic disease>

Obviously I had to look this up, though our resident academic Boldie would have known this already due to his high regard for the Classics, innit Boldie?

(Also diaspora etc)

Haha,It will be com when he's coming out with stuff like that to a classroom full of kids.

Also Tighty is clever in a more intelligence/knowledge way(although blidey useless at quiz machines) where as Tank is more;comes out with clever stuff that nobody understands so wiki's and then goes WOW he's a clever bloke kind of way.I on the other hand am always just pleased to make it through the day

Funny thing that made me think of your Sadie thread Red.I was speaking to me Mam the other day watching a World Cup game and she says "They are doing a sweepstake at work for this but I didn't enter" I say why you should've I would've given you the money to enter if you weren't keen yourself, she says "I didn't want to,I would've entered if they let me pick who I wanted" LMAO,I then go onto say "but everyone would just pick Spain, how would that work?" she said "I wouldn't have picked them"

I don't know if I've mentioned the stoat we've got living in the drystone dyke at my folks' house Red. We've had great fun watching it hunting round the field outside the kitchen window without ever getting the chance to get  a picture.

Last week we got the chance:

Next doors cat got her(you can just see the 2 bloody marks on her throat where the bottom teeth have bitten her), she was a mother as well - we know because the bloody cat's caught 2 nearly full grown kits as well since.

I know the cat's doing what comes naturally (although he'll not eat them), but it's annoying that just as the garden's doing well, the rabbit population's exploding and our finest rabbit deterrent has been killed.
