PS Don't EVER let Sinéad take you clothes shopping. She's ruthless!
What happens if she takes Ruth shopping?
Dunno. Does Ruth use the fist test? Because Sinéad does as it turns out.
She said (at volume) from across one shop, "Hey Mom! Found a good one here and it passed the fist test with flying colours."
So as I'm wandering in her direction with a puzzled look on me face I mumble to her, "What are you on about with fist test?"
She replied with a rogue smile "Well...if the top can't handle my fist, there's no way it's gonna handle them babies."
Sighhhhhhhhhhhh

Well I don't have one darn it. Is it an add on?
Dunno lax, it's always been there for me. A bit like her indoors.
What? What?! You must be having a tough day today too. Where's me 'L'?
Don't worry about the news thingy though. Ger must have been reading this thread because he's just talked me through it. It was there, but I'd hid it on meself.
How silly is this headline though....
'Man shot by armed officers dies'
How does one get shot by unarmed officers?
Wadda mistakea to makea. It's this bloomin keyboard Lax, the caps-shift lets me down when I'm not looking.
How does one get shot by unarmed officers?
You don't, unless there's something sinister afoot.
There was a bloke shot dead in Ireland last week by an off duty policeman, must be different rules over there re carrying weapons.

The PSNI routinely arms all of its officers. Officers are issued the Glock 17 pistols and are licensed to carry them at all times.

I was reading The Sun today and there was a column about the BGW program by someone who's name I forget but he was a Gypsy and was annoyed at the portrayal of Gypsies in the program as well as the fact it was mostly Travellers. One thing I noticed in the article though was the fact that he wrote Gypsy as gipsy, so no capital and he spelt Gypsy with an I for some reason, you any idea why that would be ?

Probably because the majority of gypsies don't realise the significance. By and large, we're not political animals. In fact, a large proportion of the adult population aren't even literate.
I wonder if he wrote the column, or dictated it? Does it give his name?.
A Gypsy would make this mistake because he doesn't know any better. A professional newspaper journalist, or a politician on the other hand....

I don't still have the paper so don't know his name but he is a pro journo which is why I was surprised at it. Under his name it said he wrote for a Traveller's guide or magazine but he definitely said he was a Gypsy. Although I'm sure you've explained it already I assume the significance is Gypsies being recognised as an ethnic group ?
I knew The Sun was ignorant/racist but I was surprised that this person wouldn't put Gypsy as it seems to be important to Tom so assumed it would be important to him also.

That's true, and in their case it's not a mistake or an oversight, it's cynical.
The Sun regularly features anti Gypsy pieces.

If he was a professional journalist and a Gypsy ir was probably a man called Jake Bowers. If this is the case I would be very surprised if he intentionally miss-spelled Gypsy.
In a nutshell. Under European law, ethnic minorities have the right to live in a way that they find culturally acceptable, So in the case of a Gypsy for instance, that might be the right to live in his caravan.
Now when that Gypsy is is being moved on from place to place every day, he can argue that he is homeless, because although he has a home, (His caravan) he has nowhere legal to park it.
If he is homeless, the local authority will offer him bricks and mortar accommodation, but he will say that he doesn't want that, thank you very much. He wants to live in his caravan.
If the case goes to court, the judge will say
"This man can prove that he is an ethnic Gypsy. He shares a common language, history and culture with his community. He has a proven aversion to living in bricks and mortar accommodation, and you will be infringing upon his human rights if you force him to do so".
All ethnic groups are refereed to using an upper case letter at. To refuse to use it for the Gypsies when you are aware of it's significance is simply racism.

I know Jake well and see him regularly. I can't imagine him making a mistake like that, there must be some "other" explanation.
I will see him soon and report back.

Do you think the main editor of the paper may have changed it to lower case ? Pretty diabolical if that's the case. I thought it couldn't be a mistake as he did it about four times in the article. People, myself included disappointingly, can be so ignorant to racism sometimes, especially in newspapers and on television. There was a disgraceful article that was also about the BGW that was so unbelievably racist I was actually surprised, even though it was in The Sun, I won't bother linking you up to it.

At the moment I suspect that Jake dictated it. I can't believe that the editor could actually get away with changing it.
