Having been offered both of these I wonder who would try horse or dog? If not, why not?
Horse, yes.
Definitely not dog for me.
They are just too tightly allied to humans for me to see any way of raising and killing them humanely. Either the dog, the person, or both would suffer mental anguish.

Since I started feeding the birds outside we have been drowning in finches and other weird and wonderful little feathery buggers...
Great eh? what and how are you feeding em Mr B?
We have a woman on the market who sells wild bird food and feeders. She does a roaring trade. I bought a sort of bird-feeder tree from her, it has hooks and things for several types of feeder, (Which she also supplies) Not to expensive though, the whole lot only cost about £20.
It doesn't matter how you feed them really though, the top of a gate post works just as well.
I feed fat balls from a cage-type thingy,
they last ages if the jackdaws
don't come and demolish the lot in 5 minutes, and a finch mixture (to which I add a few sunflower seeds) from one of those clear plastic hoppers. I also feed peanuts from a stainless steel wire tube. (has to be stainless steel or the squirrels bite through it)
Oh, and I feed winnowings that I get from a friendly farmer along with some rape seed in a mesh bowl.
We hang the fat-balls from the tree using string, but one of the jackdaws has learned to wrap the string round the branch until the fatball is tight to the branch & it can eat it at its leisure. We know it's just one jackdaw as it's for some white feathers on its head && neck so is quite easily identifiable. We don't mind it too much because we have a grudging respect for it working out how to rob them.

We have one dominant jackdaw. He gets to stand on top of the fat ball cage, and all the others have to wait on the ground below and squabble over the crumbs.

As I'm sure you are desperate to know Tom, I have lost 9lbs since starting my weight loss challenge, however ate a meat feast pizza last night...

Wow! Well done.
I do like hearing how other dieters are doing as it happens.
How long have you been at it?
What do you eat on a typical day now?
What's your target weight?

Well at the risk of triggering another sermon from you-know-who, I've changed the ring-tone on my phone to something other than "Ring ring".
I think he bludgeoned everyone around to his way of thinking with his last tirade. Now there are just too many ring ringers out there. I'm reaching for my phone every 5 minutes.
I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am in you Tom.
I intend to invoke industrial action against you by asking your moles to get busy.
When you are ready to concede, tell me, & I'll call the moles off.

Oh - & good luck today Tom. That's from me, not the moles.
See if you can do a Methuselah, dip down to 10k, then finish on nearly 70k.

Obv Mr Red is just wrong for changing his ring tone..but what I want to know is; Just how wrong is he?

Excellent. Now the comeback starts. The target is 70k, OK?
Finish the day on 70k, & I call the moles off.

Same, same. Was up to 30k in level 3 but have pretty much missed every flop for the last 3 hours and am back to 10k or so.

Keep the faith, plenty of time.
