Mrs Red has been hitting the salad too. She's done quite well for an old bint. (She hates me posting her pic btw, lol) Click to see full-size image. |

I can't work this out.
A Grocer had a stone that he used as a counterweight on his scale. One day his friend borrowed the stone, and when he returned it it was broken into four pieces. The friend was very apologetic but the grocer thanked him for the favour. The grocer said that now he can measure in one pound increments starting at one pound all the way to forty pounds. (1 2 3 17 29 37 etc.) using these stones. How much does each stone weigh?

Answer in tiny:
1, 3, 9, 27 - put the stones on both sides, e.g. 2 = 3 on one side, 2 on t'other

We had, by my reckoning, the 3rd village fete of the year on Saturday. I actually forgot all about it until 4 O'Clock when I was startled by a low flying Lancaster Bomber... I can't imagine what a whole wing of them would have sounded like - must have been very intimidating!

I have been inside a Lancaster (Only while it was on the ground unfortunately) but it was still pretty amazing. Are you allowed to have things that you are unlikely to ever be able to do on your bucket list? If so I want to experience low level flight in a small jet.

How about a "It aint gonna happen" bucket list? Here's another entry for mine. Impromptu dancing with beautiful girl. (I would love to, but even in the unlikely event of me pulling said girl, can't dance worth a lick)

I cheated here Tom but asked my friend who is a maths genius. He did his o level at jnr school and ended up over at the 6th form when we were 11. I got all excited thinking 7 9 10 14 looked good till I got to 18. The wife said use the 9 twice you dummy but then I suppose that's cheating coz you could use the 1lb weight 18 times. Anyway my mate did it in his head and says it's 1 3 9 27..... I would be very surprised if he is wrong

if you were going to ask someone rather than work it out it would've surely been easier to just look up this page to where bongo posted the answer
