It's a real winter morning here today. Strong winds, rain going sideways. If it's the same in Brighton it's perfect for Vinny's bracing walk on the beach.
The birds are performing aerobatic miracles to land on the feeders, especially the robin, who isn't as agile the tits. They fly downwind and as they draw level with the feeders, they do an elegant little half-roll to deftly grab on to the wire mesh.
The robin's technique involves powering upwind until he is about six feet beyond the feeder, and then just closing his wings and allowing himself to be flung against the perspex tube that holds the seed. He just about has time to grab a bit of millet before being blown off the feeder and into a nearby conifer.
A minute later he starts the whole process over again.
The jackdaws arrived on foot this morning, looking for all the world like a gang of council workers with their donkey-jacket plumage drawn tightly about their shoulders. They call loudly to each other as they swagger about and dig the lawn. Laddish chatter peppered with obscenities. A brief disagreement, a joke, squawks of laughter.
Lovely bit of writing Tom.

Please, they are different things, like chalk & cheese, trains & locomotives, ceilings & roofs. If you read a proper Diary, you'd know that.

Sikh Temples: They're known as Gudwara's. And it's true. Anyone can come in and eat Langar (food). There's a big gudwara on East Park Road in Leicester which often gets homeless people coming in to eat.
Sikh weddings: Must have gone to a duff one boshi cos they usually last well into the night usually with free bar and plenty of dancing!!

I'm only going from a sample size of two - so maybe I need to go to a few more. Both were brilliant, but started early and finished early, and then the bride and groom went off to do their thing with family for the rest of the evening.
Both had free bars
and excellent food.
