Sigh...
Mrs Red says I have to deliver Chrimbo cards around the village.
I've already done it once, but these are cards for the people who we don't exchange cards with, but then they sent cards to us, so now we have to send one back.

After fifty-odd years of tying my own shoelaces, someone told me yesterday that I'm doing it wrong.
Actually, he made a very good case, and gave me a practical demonstration.
I have no Idea how to explain it in text, but if any of you want to remind me when we next meet, I'll show you.

There's a whole art to it!!
I'm actually a fan of
elastic laces
, especially for my running shoes (they fit more comfortably and allow your feet to expand, which they do as you run, and don't come undone - which is a pain), but I also use them for my everyday boots as well.

Elastic laces, what a great idea! I have to try them.
Can I buy them in the shops? (If so which ones?)
Will they hold work boots securely, and will I have to untie them to get the boots on / off?
I'm so excited

While we're in the subject, I'll tell you what you can't buy these days. Beeswax.

They're great for boots. You don't have to untie them as they have a locking toggle thing on them that you can slide down towards the boot to secure, and release and slide away from the boot to allow you to get your foot out easily. Far easier than laces on boots that can be a royal pain. I always tend to wear boots, and did so when I was in Japan. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard of elastic laces then, and so everytime I went to someone's house, or to a traditional restaurant or
izakaya
(pub), I'd have to take my boots off and I'd always be the last one at the end to get my shoes back on.
I've only ever ordered them online, like those ones I linked to on Amazon. Can get them on ebay as well for a bit less.

Online. Doh! (And so cheap too)
I actually never thought of looking online for beeswax. You used to be able to buy it everywhere. Cobblers, saddlers, upholsterers, tack shops, chandlers etc....
Thanks Deno.

Nope. I'm not impressed by the zip idea. Fancy trying to zip that up and down when it's covered in clay or concrete or dried manure...

Yeah, elastic sounds a better choice then! Think they're for army/police use for getting boots on quickly

Yeah, but I think those beeswax shoe-polish sticks have a leather softener in there as well, which wouldn't suit my purpose.
Local shop finder is a good idea though.
The internet is like evolution on fast forward. I mean, imagine a troupe of chimps.....
Hold on, I have to digress here....
I wasn't sure I was spelling 'troupe' correctly, so I googled it. Now I don't know if it should be 'troupe' 'troup' or 'troop', and anyway, the collective name for chimps is 'a cartload'.
Anyway. Imagine a cartload of chimps. One finds out how to crack a Brazil nut using a stone, but other chimps from outside his group don't learn from him how to do it. It could take a million years for all chimps to learn to crack Brazil nuts.
Contrast those chimps with Boshi & Deno. They learn something, and I know about it within minutes.

I've found Boshi to be a useful Chimp in the past too. He's good like that. Will add Dino to the list...cheers!

An infinite number of chimps could produce the works of Shakespeare though, could Kin and Deno do that?
