Nope, can't find anything like it.

It wasn't a cannister though, it was a pipe sunk into the ground.

Yeah the pipe/canister is sunk into the run to release gas/poison and the main burrows blocked off.

While I was out walking today I saw yet another myxy rabbit.

I always put them out of their misery if I can, and this one was in a real state, head horribly swollen, totally blind with eyes that were just pockets of pus.

Click the link if you want to see what a rabbit with myxomatosis looks like but beware, it's not pretty.

What with being totally blind virtually deaf and in extreme pain, rabbits with myxomatosis are usually easy to catch, it's just a case of sneaking up and grabbing them, but this one became aware of me at the last moment and bolted, running blindly into some brush at the base of a hedge. I cleared the deadwood and found the rabbit, but I also found this....

It's like a pipe with a cap which is padlocked on in a peculiar fashion.

Does anyone have any idea what it is? I'm completely stumped.

Hi tom
this is my first reply on your post hope you don't mind.
is there a quarry or mine near? as they may be for gas or vibration testing.

Hi Dai, and welcome.

Yes. There is indeed. Croft quarry is only a few 100 meters away. I think you may be on to something....

No label Guy. In fact, it was quite well hidden.
