Men's arses are generally hairier than their female counterparts (except in Barnsley where that may not be the case).

Tom's Diary plumbs new depths. Dead bonfires, peanuts, skid marks, clothes piled on the floor (except Geo, of course). I shudder to think what may be next.
Next door, today we will mainly be doing interesting stuff.

Just managed to get a goldfinch pic. Not a patch on Rod's dad's, but it's a start.

That is a wonderful photo, Tom, it's almost like he is looking at you. Can you tell if it is a cock, or a hen?
Even more, I want to get myself a nice camera now.

Yes. It's a cock. You can tell because it's blaze extends to the back of it's eye.
I think yours does too.

I'm going for an MRI scan on one cheek of my butt today.
For the past two years, my left buttock has hurt when I sit on something soft. (like a settee for instance).
It hurts a bit when I drive, but not at all when I sit at a poker table. "A likely story" says Mrs red. (Not really, she's a sweetheart).
Anyway. I've had various bum-probings and injections over the last couple of years, all to no avail. So I'm hoping that this MRI will get to the bottom of things.
When they booked me in for the scan, they asked me if I had ever had any iron filings in my eyes, or if I had any metal in my body. (Apparently an MRI scanner is an incredibly powerful electric magnet and would pull and stray bits of metal straight through my body). I told them that I do have a pea sized fragment of steel embedded in my left hand. It flew in there one day many years ago when I was cutting a groove in some concrete. I didn't find it until my hand healed, and by then it was too late.
They told me I couldn't have the MRI until the metal had been removed, but then a senior Doctor came along and said "Yes he can, we're scanning his arse, he can hold his hand above his head".
Right. My appointment is for 10:30 in Hinckley so I've just got time to cook my eggs.

Good luck with your scan. Be nice if they could finally solve the mystery for you. Did they say how long you must wait for results?

I'm back! All scanned and everything.
I reported to reception at my local community hospital, as per my appointment letter. When I told the lady on the desk that I was there for an MRI scan she ushered me in to a windowless waiting room that was full of people. Everyone, it turns out, was there for a scan.
I asked a porter if I was in for a long wait, and he asked me if the Pope was a Catholic.
Not being much of a one for sitting in windowless rooms full of people (Card rooms aside) I persuaded a fellow scanee to give me a shout if anyone came looking, and went for a stroll outside.
After exploring the public car park, I moved on to another, one with a sign that said 'Authorised persons only beyond this point'.
There, parked across 5 or 6 spaces, humming like a Chernobyl tea boy's underpants, was a great big mobile scanning unit.
I whipped out my camera to take a quick snap, and as did so, the door opened. "Are you here for a scan?" a nurse asked. I told her I was and she checked my name against a list on a clipboard. "Right. In to go".
Inside, the mobile scanning unit was like the Starship Enterprise. I was asked a battery of questions, denuded of anything metal, and put into a very large and extremely noisy washing machine for 25 minutes.
When I came out, everyone shouted in unison "He's got his watch on!" and indeed I had. I looked at it quickly, it was still going, but it was 25 minutes slow.
I did go back into the waiting room and mark the card of the bloke who had been kind enough to listen out for my name being called, but he said he was content to wait his turn like
almost
everyone else.

I've become interested in the words people use to describe something small. It's surprising how it varies as you move around the country.
A jot.
An ort.
A smigen.
A tinch.
My current favorite, an eighth of a frazzle.
