What's your favourite place that you've ever visited ?

What's your favourite landmark you've ever visited ?

Where in the world would you like to go to most that you haven't already been to ?

Which landmark have you yet to visit that would be top of the list to do ?

Impossible to give definitive answers but I'll shortlist a few.

Fave place

New York - Vibrant and exciting. Everything seems familiar because you've seen it in a film.

Berlin - So Safe and clean and pleasant. Checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg Gate with it's war wounds still visible, the remains of the Berlin wall and the line that runs through the city, bisecting everything in it's path to mark where it stood.

San Francisco - So compact, so iconic. the Golden Gate Bridge, the hills, the wharf. Alcatraz blew me away.

Bangkok - A city of amazing contrast. A bullock cart and a Ferrari side by side at the traffic lights, smiley people who have absolutely nothing, the sounds, the smells, the colours..

Southern Ireland - Like travelling 50 years into the past. Ancient drivers in rusting cars with no road tax meander along narrow, pot-holey lanes between green rolling hills and timeless stone cottages.

Mind boggling conversations with the locals.

"What's the quickest way to ballingeary?"
"On foot or by car?"
"By car."
"Dat's der quickest way."

I could easily list a dozen more favourite places. It's a wonderful world.

Why is the google home page not offering me a Maps or Images option before I search?

No maps option on the right hand side of my page...

Did all the touristy stuff in NY, Statue, Ferry, Park. Square, 5th, Empire, Bridge, Village etc.

Also did some non touristy stuff, mooched around the LES, peeked at the Bronx etc, but I'm sure I haven't seen the real NY. I suppose you have to live there to really know it.

On the top right side of the page, to the left of the sign in thing, you'll see 9 little squares that make a lager one, click on that...

Oh I see. Thanks.

Why can't they just leave stuff alone?

At least you're in phase 1 of WCTJLSA? -- I'm in the advanced stage where I search for online feedback pages and shout "WCYJLSA?"

NEW YORK!!!!!!!

I've just come back - still a bit excited. I have a few wildlife photo's which I may want help in identifying bird species - this seems like it should be the right place for that kind of help.

I'll post them later when I've gone through the other one's in that folder, in the meantime just a couple of 'mood' shots I took.

Hi Red, have you heard anything about Stow, I just caught the end of the local news and it seems the land the horse fair is on has been sold for development. Just wondered if you have heard anything? I think it used to be down the Swell road, who/how do they decide where to move it?

Just found a link.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-24361762

Nope. it's news to me, and I know the bloke who owns the land.

Looks like he played his cards close to his chest.

That surprises me, I'm sure the land is worth a pretty penny. A plot down the road went to auction for a huge sum, well over going rates so I guess he will be weighed in well.
Will let you know if I hear anything this end.

Ere, you like pedantry.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24407211

Why does the journalist have to say 'legend'? He isn't a legend. He existed. I know it's a common phrase in modern parlance and that's fine. I use it myself. But I can't have the Beeb using that kind of colloquialism in an article.
