What caused the dustbin lorry crash?

What happened to the tilted ship?

I need closure.

It'll be quite a while before the results of the inquest into the dustbin lorry crash come out. It's being blamed on a seizure by the driver though. Think the police are doing all they can to protect him from the press, Sky in particular not popular in Glasgow for their behaviour towards survivors and those who tried to help victims.

Saw this photo and thought of this thread.

The largest picture ever taken, a 1.5 billion pixel image (69,536 x 22,230px) and requires about 4.3 GB disk space. http://www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/hubble-s-high-definition-panoramic-view-of-the-andromeda-galaxy/

It's a photo of a small section of the Andromeda galaxy, our closest galactic neighbour, captured by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. The full image is made up of 411 Hubble images, takes you through a 100 million stars and travels over more than 40,000 light years.

That's just one small section, of one pretty average galaxy amongst the several hundred billion in the observable universe.

For me, the most amazing thing is that we, a tiny life form so recently evolved on a speck of dust planet, are aware that it all exists.

Yes, we (and I'm taking credit on behalf of everyone in the human race) took that photo, and because of our intelligence and curiosity (yes I'm taking the credit again) we are able to understand a lot about how it all works, where it started, and where our 'place' is in the universe.  We've even jumped off our little planet and visited another lump of rock nearby, and we even have some of us living in a man-made space-station over 250 miles out into space.

I think his physique inspired the shape of most planets.

Today I learned something I never imagined I'd find interesting:

Woodlice drink through their anus.

Did you catch the "Eichmann Show" last night BBC2 9pm?

A dramatisation, including actual footage, of the Eichmann trial in 1960 including very harrowing holocaust images.

A very impressive programme indeed, powerful stuff
