Tommy Tucker – Hi-Heel Sneakers Lyrics

Put on your red dress, baby
Ya know we're goin' out tonight
Put on your red dress, baby
Lord, we're goin' out tonight
And-a bring along some boxin' gloves
In case some fool might wanna fight

Put on your high-heel sneakers, Lordy
Wear your wig-hat on your head
Put on your high-heel sneakers, child
Wear your wig-hat on your head
Ya know you're looking mighty fine, baby
I'm pretty sure you're gonna knock 'em dead

I used the word 'tump' in conversation this morning. It's a common word for us but Mrs Red reckons she has never heard anyone else use it.

Do you use it?

Do you know what it is without Googling?

THe only thing I can think of is a tump-line - used to help carry a heavy pack, goes round the forehead?

Going to google now.

Well that was well off target Cheesy

It does exist though, I wasn't making it up...

Think Tikay must be favourite to get the other definition - going by the period it was most in use, https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCQQhCwwAGoVChMI7sHcjM2ZyQIViP4OCh1s1wlC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fbooks.google.com%2Fngrams%2Fgraph%3Fyear_start%3D1800%26year_end%3D2008%26corpus%3D15%26smoothing%3D7%26case_insensitive%3Don%26content%3Dtump&usg=AFQjCNG8ha0OPH0DzC8RrvzMGNoUxdcllw&sig2=Zz0iTs3Er4fhcJUziaxqGw

I'm geeking out on Google's word use analysis tool - how great is that - and free.

Nope, never heard of it, but Wiki has saved my day.

It's that sort of word that fits exactly, & seems so obvious.

Were you going to give someone a tump in the face Tom? I've hear it used instead of thump

I have recently been involved in the interring of a time capsule and one of the items we included was a packet of seeds.

I knew that seeds could still germinate after many years, but I didn't realise that it was thousands of years.

It got me to thinking. What exactly is it inside that seed that lives for so long, and what exactly is living?

Is there something in there that moves, or an electrical current that flows?

Right down at the deepest level, what in happening in there that makes it 'alive'?

Had a great walk earlier - took Kerry out and it was dark, but so clear that the moonlight was enough to not only cast shadows, but even enough to see the shadow of each puff of pipe smoke I exhaled. Took her a couple of miles, walking at a nice slow pace, enjoying views in the moonlight that made the lace I know so well look totally different. While walking along for a brief moment I almost started believing in ghosts, before I realised it was a barn owl, about 50 yards away, almost luminous in the moonlight.

The rain, the storms, the annoyances of living in the sticks, all drift away on a night like that, when I'd not swap my wee bit hill & glen for anywhere.

I'm now googling how I could get a picture on a night like that - because I'd love to show how nice the world looks in silvery tones and darkness (although I know you'll know the same feeling Red).

No doubt some will laugh when I say this is Rod, but I think it's kind of special that you know that I know.

Thanks Tractor.

I would love to be able to buy a wagon, but it wouldn't be practical even if I could afford it. To keep it in good condition it would either have to be stored under cover or lived in.

Paulton's got rid of the collection years ago unfortunately. Was a decent collection.
Dorset heavy horse centre bought a few and have them on display
