And what do they mean by +3 computer glasses?

I wear +2s for reading and prop down to +1s for the computer. I want to sit further away, not closer when I'm computering.

Was an example - I didn't know your requirements. if you stuck with +2's you could fit more words on the screen...

I'm trying to use less words.

Or should that read, 'I'm use words'.

I've just thought of another great solution. I could poke one lens out of my readers and then wear them all the time, opening which ever eye suits the job in hand.

The contact lens in my right eye is for distance vision, the one in my left is for close up, i don't close one when I use the other. I just point my head and my brain does the hard bit.

Really? That's amazing. I can scarcely believe it's true but on the other hand you're such a trustworthy character I don't think you would be pulling my pisser..

Bear with me, I'm gona try holding my glasses so that I have a lens over one eye to test the theory...

It kinda works, but it plays havoc with your depth perception.

I remember seeing an experiment once where they gave a bloke some specs that made the world appear upside down. After a couple of days his brain worked things out and flipped things over so that he perceived them to be the right way up again.

Ironically, the way that light passes through the pupil causes it to be projected on to our retinas upside down, so our brain has to convert it to right way up anyway

Bugger! I can't remember the 5th 'S'.

It works just fine with contacts. Besides, I'm not very perceptive.

I have had bifocals for 2 years now.  I never got used to them.    I just take them off or putting them on my head when I look at something close.  Maybe I should try harder, but I just found it unpleasant trying to focus.

Some like it cold.

Beef stew.
Toast.
Bacon and egg sandwiches.
Chinese takeaway.
Baked beans.
KFC.

Am I a weirdo?

I used to like curried beans cold, probably still might.

Yes you are.

I'm partially sighted without correction, can't read the first letter on the chart.

With only one contact lens in I can see well enough to drive, the brain just ignores everything coming from the other eye. Amazing things eyes.

Which kind of begs the question - How do you know?

I meant I can pass the tests required - number plate at 20 metres, the 6/12 line on the Snellen chart, field of vision etc. etc.

Back in the day when you didn't have daily lenses, I'd lose one/rip one every so often.  I am pretty sure putting just the one in made me feel groggy.  Does this never happen to you?  Maybe some brains are more hard wired, and some adapt better.

Take the upside down man who had adjusted after 2 days.  Maybe some would adapt in 12 hours, some a week and others were left sitting in a pool of their own vomit after half an hour?
