While we're back on the subject, where do you start looking for a replacement starter motor for a 25 year old mower?

Well I started with ebay, there was a couple of second hand ones on there that were almost but not quite right. (different mountings, longer shaft etc)

Then I tried mower repair places and even new mower suppliers all to no avail, then someone put me on to this place, and what a wonderful experience it was.

Inside there was an old bloke in bib & brace overalls rebuilding a starter on a bench.

I showed him my knackered starter and he took a pencil from behind his ear and jotted down a few details on a pad.

"Will you recondition mine?" I asked.

"No" He replied waving towards a vast array of shelving, all laden with starter motor and alternator pariphanalia, "I'll make you one up."

That was on the Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday morning, while I was walking the dogs, my phone rang, "Mr Mccready? Your starter's ready."

Not many places like that left now, and no one will be able to fill his shoes when he's gone.

Absolutely brilliant

Characters are disappearing fast unfortunately

I blame these stupid games kids play whilst looking at a screen, most of them wouldn't have a clue how to mend a puncture or change a chain link
