From a forum question about Job & Knock.
Binman - my brother is one. They graft to finish their round as quick as possible. They had a manager who thought they could then go and help slower crews. They then slowed down to be as slow as the slowest crew and he soon got the message.

Our binmen are relentlessly cheerful. Rain, snow, hail, wind or heat seem to have no effect on them.
Three generations of children have waved to them and always got a wave back.
We’re still getting weekly collections and the only time Bank Holidays changes things is if there’s one on a Tuesday as there was on Boxing Day. They were there on the 27th looking as effervescent as ever.

I wonder how many eggs per week get dropped in the UK?
I have two eggs every morning and I estimate I drop at least one per month. It's caused by only being able to grip the top 3rd of the egg as I lift it out of the box.
I have found two virtually foolproof solutions.
Method one is to lift the egg a few centimetres without moving it away from the egg box, then you can grip it properly around the middle with the other hand. If it does drop before the transfer is complete, it lands softly and safely back where it came from.
The con with this method is you can't be holding a spatula in your free hand until the egg is properly lifted, which slows down the whole process.
Method two is to kiss the egg out of the box and then unkiss it into your waiting hand, ready immediately to be twatted by the waiting spatula. A practical and elegant solution.
The con with this method is that it can only really be used when you are alone in the kitchen.

"Mary Poppins film age rating raised over 'discriminatory language'"
Human nature being what it is, I had a ridiculous desire to know what the offensive word or language was, as the film has been around for 60 (?) or more years & I'd never heard mention of any controversy around the language used in it.
So I went googling. I could have had a million guesses & still never got it.

I've made a note not to use the term in future.

Kate and Charles both found to have cancer during routine operations.
At the same time too. What are the chances?

It's all very sad imo, especially so in the case of Catherine. The fact she is a "Royal" is neither here nor there, it's still sad.

I was reminiscing today, as you do.
When my youngest daughter was about 5, Postman Pat was her fave on TV.
We used to sing:
Postman Pat, Postman Pat,
Postman Pat ran over his cat.
Blood and guts went flying,
Postman Pat was crying.
Postman Pat's a very divvy man.
My daughter was traumatised but we thought it was hilarious.
