Woke up at 5:30am again, couldn't get back to sleep, Doh!
Listened to the dawn chorus and watched the sun rise. You remember the sun right? It's that big yellow shiny thing in the sky that makes your eyes water if you stare at it.
I've been toying with the idea of playing some short stacked cash. I was playing $5/10 a while ago and someone sat down with $200. He was so hard to play against. Every time I got involved in a pot with him, it seemed he didn't have enough to make me pass, which caused me to make marginal, perhaps even tilty calls.
So this morning I gave it a go and sat in a $5/10 game with 200. The only thing was there was a barmy French bloke on there who went all in with any two. He paid everyone off. I waited for proper hands and he doubled me up twice.
I didn't learn anything, but I made $600 bucks. I will continue my experiment some other time.

stretching the definition of mobile really isn't it? it's huge and pretty hard to move.
I'd always assumed you lived in a much smaller caravan until you posted the photo of it.

I've just woke up.
Oh my god. I was so unbelievably tired. I just HAD to sleep.
I wonder if thats how Tony feels at the end of every day? No wonder he's grumpy.

Let me introduce Dave, the JCB man.
I call him the JCB man, but he has every kind of pulling, digging and lifting machine imaginable.
Here he is (in the foreground) with one of his assorted tractors.

Dave the JCB man is almost 70 now, and he is one of the toughest men I have ever known. He is also one of the kindest.
He keeps about 80 head of cattle, and an assortment of goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, and geese etc. He gets up at 5am every morning to feed, water, muck out, and generally tend to their needs. He does this single handed, winter and summer. He has names for every one of them, and if you ask, he will tell you everything about any given individual, including its history and personality.
When all the animals have been seen to, he starts his day’s work proper. He hires himself and one of his various machines out on a daily basis. He could be digging a ditch, flailing a hedge, lifting a lathe, ploughing a field, or doing any one of a thousand other jobs. Whatever he is doing though, he doesn’t just sit in his cab and drive the machine; he gets out and gets his hands dirty.
Then, at the end of a long, long day, while everyone is putting their feet up, he sets about tending to his livestock again. He won’t eat or rest until they are settled down for the night.
Although old age is slowing him down a little these days, he is still as hard as nails. Blazing sun, biting cold or driving rain, it’s all the same to him, he doesn’t seem to even notice it.
His hands are terribly mangled and scarred. I asked his wife about them one day, and she told me that he had been trying to dislodge a piece of wood that had got caught in his bailer when he lost his footing and fell into the business end of it. His hands were trapped between a conveyor belt and a steel roller. Using all his strength, he could just about prevent himself from being pulled all the way in, but he couldn’t get free.
Eventually, the roller, which was still turning, tore the skin from his hands, and the blood lubricated his right hand enough for him to be able to wrench it clear. Then, not without some difficulty because his fingers were just bones, he calmly reached into his pocket and took out his knife.
He then proceeded to cut through the conveyor belt, (taking care to cut it in such a way as to make it easy to repair ffs) Once free, he unhitched the bailer, and drove himself to the hospital on his tractor, he even stopped to close the gate on his way out of the field.
Dave the JCB man is one tough hombre, but to see him take a handful of straw and rub down a newborn calf, and then watch with a tear in his eye as it takes it’s first faltering steps, you would never believe it.

Dave and I spent all day getting my Mobile home out of the field and on to the road today. We got bogged down in the soft soil, and had to lift it with jacks and put boards underneath. Then we got stuck in the gate hole and we had to remove one of the gateposts and some of the hedge.
When the man with the transporter arrived, we got everything ready for loading the mobile, and then the transporter broke down.
Dave and I spent two hours on traffic duty while the lorry was repaired, then we stood back to watch the transporter bloke load the mobile. He made a balls up and it slipped off the ramps and ended up with one end on the lorry, one end on the floor, and the wheels hanging in mid air. All this in the middle of the road. What a nightmare.
With Dave's expert help, we finally got it sorted. I was so tired I went home and collapsed.
Dave went to see to his livestock.
