I seem to remember hearing that Sky+ boxes are noisy. I hope it's not true
Nah thats horse boxes you're thinking of!
.
We've got sky+ mr Red...doesn't make a noise at all.
Wrong wrong wrong!
As I suspected, the Sky plus box has a hard drive, ergo a fan, ergo a noise.

ours really doesn't make a noise..maybe it's because the Mrs works for Sky and gets the proper stuff. but I'm sure it doesn't make any noises....

Go and listen to it and report back. (If you have it in a cabinet, open the door first)

if i put my ear close to it, there is a faint noise, similar to the sound of a butterfly flapping its wings.

I told you before, spray a bit of WD 40 around.

I don't like things.
I don't like sitting with my back to a room.
I don't like crowds.
I don't like drunks.
I don't like women who swear.
I don't like the nanny state.
I don't like things that make a noise. Central heating pumps, fridge freezers, Sky box's.
I don't like things that flash. Neon signs, music video's, that little light on mobile phones.
I don't like things that smell. Air fresheners, scented soap, WD40....

I can imagine them designing a mobile phone.
"Lets put a bright flashing light on it" It will be absolutely useless while the phone is in his pocket, but just you wait until he puts it on the dressing table and tries to go to sleep!"

But surely when you are watching television the TV is louder than a butterfly flapping? If the telly isn't on my Sky+ box is switched off (unless it's recording and even then I can't notice it)..I assume yours is as well...and then it doesn't make any noise whatsoever.
everything makes a noise..there is in fact not a single thing in the world..that does not make a noise.
