Excellent updates so far. Please hurry up and play some cards thou. Stories of felting arrogant Americans in cowboy hats is a must imo. Also steak stories please.

Already played me some cards. Ran deep in a $160 freezeout with an Excellent structure in Binnions (The structure for the $500 at Caesars was appalling)

I was very impressed by how well the tourney was run. Before the fist level was over, someone got a 10 minute penalty for asking his neighbour, "Hey buddy, are you fucking nuts?"

In all the time I've been playing at home, I've never seen anyone get a time penalty.

Wag going to update the diary this morning, tell you why I think moving downtown was right for me, write a little about the poker etc, but instead I spent 3 hours With Mrs Red on MSN, fixing the central heating by remote control. I gave instructions, and she did the spanner work.

It's all working fine now. (Well done sweetheart)

Don't know what to play today. Theres a $550 at the Venition with a decent (ish) structure, and a really nice $160 one at Binions.

I don't feel compelled to play the bigger buy-ins while I'm here, My main objective is to enjoy myself, and I seem to be managing that quite nicely.

I think the Binions will suit you much better Tom.

I cannot imagine you could ever feel comfortable on "The Strip" Tom, it's just not "you", or me, for that matter. For me, it's just convenient, & near the poker action (I'm usually "working" when I'm there), & I stay there for that reason alone.

The Strip itself must count as one of the most dreadful, tacky & soul-less locations I've ever visited, though the poker variety is unequalled anywhere on earth.

I do hope you manage to get out to the Red-Rock Mountain area, it's ruggedly beautiful in a weird way, & the Red-Rock Casino is the classiest joint in Vegas by a country mile. Which is not saying much.

But the variety of poker action in Vegas is wonderful - it's like Online - there's always a Comp to suit everyone, somewhere, 24/7.

Can't be arsed to start my own Vegas diary,so i'll add a bit to Tom's. Arrived about 3 hours ago. It's not gone well so far! Flight delayed 3 hours, just one of them things, can't do anythihg about it,so grab some breakfast and a couple of pints. Had a seat near the door on the plane so i was the first person through immigration, result. Wait 10 minutes for my luggage and jump in a cab,he tells me they have closed the road out of the airport and we have to go this way. $22 to the MGM!! The hotel is at the end of the runway ffs. Shafted me thinks. No queue at check in,a very nice lady finds me my room, credit card declined! fml. I tell her it's the only one i have and she tries again,no joy. I phone my bank from the desk on my mobile (££££) the boss of 02 is probably ordering his new car as we speak. The guy from the bank tells me the card has been blocked by the fraud team and i need to phone them in the morning.Jeez. I get a bit fuuny with him and say if my phone calls are not paid i will be closing my account. So i have to pay cash for the room.
I'm in a celebrity spa suite which is lovely, cracking view overlooking NYNY,Monte Carlo. Can't decide what to do tonight, play a bit of cash, which will almost certainly result in more financial loss,or find a tourney. I think there's an 11pm at Caesers.

The strip is just stunning. and I mean that literally. No matter how you try, you could never explain how incredible it is to someone who has never been.

Ralph and I went into the Wynn, and my mouth fell open. We were surrounded by acres of opulence. Polished granite floors, marble plinths, pelmets, arches and columns. Plush carpets, oak panels, cut glass etc. Then we walked in a straight line for over 20 minutes before we came out the other side.

I still can't get my head around the scale of it.

The Venetian. I must have said "Wow!" at least 50 times as we walked around here.

Paris.

The second picture is actually taken inside the hotel. The 'Sky' is fake.

There are dozens more like this on the strip. The Bellagio, Treasure Island, New York New York, Harrah's, MGM Grand, The Mirage, and many more.

I wouldn't have missed seeing it for the world. It's mind blowing. Truly amazing. A great place to visit, and a great place to play.

My Debit card was also frozen last week. It seems the fraud teams have witnessed a lot of problems with online gambling sites recently, so they froze my card after I deposited $200 into one of them. It only took three calls to get the card unlocked and another two to get my online banking thing working again.
They also froze the card while I was in Vegas in June after an 'unusually large amount' was taken by Caesar's Palace. Yep, that would be the room payment up front, the usual way of doing it. It only took 24 hours to get it working again FFS. These boys have a job to do but they really are a pain in the arse.

When i came in March i phoned the bank to tell them i was going to America and will be using my card, they said no problem there is no need to inform us.So obv this time i didn't bother. I only booked the hotel 2 weeks ago,so if they checked my account they would have seen the deposit had been paid,it doesn't take a genius to work out i'm going away.

On a brighter note i just came 3rd in the Caesers 11pm comp for $600.I would have won it if my AQ had held up against the other big stacks A3.Bloody Yank whooping and cheering when the 3 hit.I shook his hand and said well played, nice hand.He didn't have a clue i was taking the piss.I suppose that's the first bad beat story of the week!

Simon Galloway bubbled the $500 plo. Ouch. 97 runners i think.

I have some pictures of The Pussycat Dolls dancers!!  Wink I will try to post them later. I need sleep, been up for 32 hours.

Well anyone that knows my current form will realise that in a 100 runner $50k comp paying 10 places, I was a short price to finish 11th.  I could have folded my way into 8th I suppose, but thats not why we enter tournys is it boys and girls?  Instead I played a 50k pot with    played for free in the BB on a  board.  Opps hand was  x and he couldnt find a pass for the whole enchilada.

I should have taken a piccy of my steak the other night, it was a corker, PH Strip House, 14oz filet mignion and Romanoff Spuds.  Likewise tonight during dinner break in Caesars, Pork Tenderloin in Mesa Grill is perhaps the best entree in Vegas imho.  I will try and remember to take a few piccys of anything notable - also eating my fill of freebies from poker room comps of course.
Pretty much so far its been poker overtime for me.  When the weekend passes, I will try and spend some decent time away from the tables and report back, as per Martin I can't be arsed to start a thread so will hijack this thread a little if thats ok with Tom...

Will check back into this thread every couple of days if anyone wants to know anything or ask anything etc otherwise its nose to the grindstone...
