I've just watched "Crimewatch" for th first time in ages. Since when did it become all hip and trendy with cheeky cockney presenters and a pun heavy script?
Can't they leave anything alone?
do they still use the "dont have nightmares" line? that used to work with that Nick clown running the show, but when Kirsty Young is presenting the show, it doesn't carry so much weight.
No, the "don't have nightmares" line has gone now. replaced by a whishy washy "Don't worry, the police are doing their best" or some such tosh.
I assume you weren't a fan of Nick then?
I dint like his smarminess, it never felt like he actually cared about the disgusting crimes that he was presenting, it seemed like all he cared about was making himself look good/professional on camera.. and given the stuff he was talking about on camera, that always rised my bile levels significantly, even though i was only a kid at the time. I just hate all this false-care attitude on TV, Id bet a real huge sum that all these people that present all these sensitive subject prgrams dont give one flying F about what they are presenting. Cynical? defo... the truth? i suspect so.

That's exactly how I felt about tonight's programme The reconstructions were sort of jazzed up so that they looked like mini soap opera/dramas rather than real people's tragedies.

thats how it is these days.. everything is about exploitatation. As poker players, we cant really take the moral high-ground, but its still wrong.

These days there seems to be no middle ground for me. I find half the stuff in the world interesting or beautiful and the other half unbearably annoying.

thats because, naturally, its your interpretation of events that either make them positive or negative. Someone elses natural interpretation of events will lead to a massively different conclusion to how you see it. My personal way to handle this is to have a personal interpretation, devoid of fiscal/emotional interpretation, and to just get on with it. Have your standards, and just stick with them. Ive done this, and in terms of poker, its cost me a massive sum, but its let me live with situations that I might not otherwise have been able to live with, so whatever $$$ its cost me, its also had a benefit. I doubt this will make much sense, lol

okay... im v druck so i expect i will regret this.. but back on party, when that was a golden era, it was effectivly free money.. and one time, I tihnk this was documented on 2p2 quite well, I had a stack of like $13k @ 10/20, vs someone who was obviously drunk/depressed w/e.. and rather than nurse my $13k stack to a close-to-g'teed $30k or more, I got sad, I felt sorry for the guy that was steaming, and I left the table. I knew he was going skint, but i dint want his money, so I left.
I dint want to make money like that. thats how i stuck to my standards.

You won't regret that, and if you do, you shouldn't.

well its not about regret/no regret, its more pertinent to poker players not acting like they shit dont stink and not acting like their world is the most importnat world ever. Life is bigger than poker, and most poeple who play poker just dont get that. All i hope is that all these "pros" realise one day that there are many things more important than poker. Life is life, people are people.

Life is bigger than poker, and most people who play poker just dont get that.
That's a sweeping statement, and one that I can't agree with. From my experience the vast majority of poker players are among the nicest people I have ever met.
Granted most of then might have a bit of an "Edge" to them, or be a bit, "Sharp" shall we say, but they are the sort of people I like to be around. If I had to pick a random person to hold my wallet while I paddled in the sea, I would choose a poker player.

sure, they are trustworthy, but that doesn't correlate to what i said. NExt time you play poker, look at how often they tell you bad beats or complain about life. THAT is what i meant about life being bigger than poker, not someones ability to hold ur wallet. Life is easy when we run well. life is bigger than spurious gambling.
