Is the Boris Becker PR machine in full spin today or has his appearance been sliced?

Boris won't be playing, Pokerstars apparently found out that he never played Real tennis. Must be quite embarassing, but could be a blessing in disguise unless he actually knows how to play poker.

Just kidding, Boris is a lock! Everyone else will have to fight for second place!

Actually we heard that the new sports star player will probably not be making an appearance, despite having been under the expert tuition of Jan Heitmann for a full week or so, due to actual and quite serious illness.  Sorry, fans.

This looks like it could be an interesting table right from the start...

Vincent Gosselink 1701
Sorel Mizzi 1702
Dario Minieri 1703
Stefan Hachmeister 1704
Kasper Nielsen 1705
Katja Thater 1706
Alex Leviev 1707
Claudio Rinaldi 1708
Hans Eskilsson 1709

Check out the Mizzi/Minieri neighbourhood of Raise and Raisier... now that most (but not all) 198 players are seated I could get some pictures while they are still looking intense and grumpy from the queueing process, which I am sure they'll all appreciate.

Good grief, what a Player List. Thanks from all of us at home for taking the time to type up that lot, it must have taken an age, especially with those German names in such abundance. Are they real names, or just anagrams?

Regular Updates please on....

Gijsbertus Spijkers

Tobias Reinkemeier

Andre Schutzenhofer

Gareth Teatum. (Is that Red-Dog in disguise?)

Peyman Mohammeadzedeh

I thank you.

I thought introducing Thomas Kremser with "Eye of the Tiger" was somewhat inappropriate.

What could the sharp suited, well spoken, erudite Thomas Kremser possibly have in common with the legendary brawler Rocky?

This photo answered my concerns. They both have a will of steel.

Behold Kremser's impeccable delivery. He continues unperturbed, despite the fact a huge lorry is about to crash through the glass windows behind him. The man has no fear!

(Apologies for blurriness, no way to take a clear shot from the vantage point)

Here are a few shots of the playing arena to give you an idea of the table layout...

Icy Katja Thater has had a good start to the first level, just now attracting a horde of journalists as she raised her opponent (probably but not certainly Stefan Hachmeister) to 4,500 from 1,600 with a board reading ...  A very long dwell during which many many photos were taken - and who was I to be the odd one out - and then he passed, reluctantly.  I think an was shown, for some reason.

Good news for Graham Clarkson fans, too - he related this happy tale of early chips to me as I was passing through the room on the slightly overwhelming First Reconnaissance...

He picked up , raised it to 200, and found a re-raiser in position.  He called the 600 and flopped J-9-4.  "I quite liked that."  So he bet out a sneaky 700, was raised to 2,600 and said he was happy against a probable overpair: call.  The turn brought an which also brought a possible flush - now it went check-check... he wasn't so delighted with that, but he was delighted to see a blank river and A-8 in his opponent's hand...

Here he is, not letting his delight show, next to an immaculately-coiffed dealer lady.

This looks like it could be an interesting table right from the start...

Vincent Gosselink 1701
Sorel Mizzi 1702
Dario Minieri 1703
Stefan Hachmeister 1704
Kasper Nielsen 1705
Katja Thater 1706
Alex Leviev 1707
Claudio Rinaldi 1708
Hans Eskilsson 1709

Check out the Mizzi/Minieri neighbourhood of Raise and Raisier... now that most (but not all) 198 players are seated I could get some pictures while they are still looking intense and grumpy from the queueing process, which I am sure they'll all appreciate.

Anyone fancy a little minieri vs mizzi last longer bet? I take the lil Italian to bust first.
