Quite probably...
I dont doubt Keane is a good player and will improve what we have, but he's not going to improve it enough for us to challenge for the league...
And i dont say that in a way that i hope we'd sign someone else instead, i just dont think ANY 2 players that are in our budget will make a big difference...
If you mean a title winning difference then I aree with you. But if they improve us enough this year (say to with 3-5 points of the title), then blowing all of next summer's budget on two more might be enough.
All I'm saying is, for the money we have, we're getting there.

Thats exactly it, we are improving, but so are Chelsea, and definately Utd, so i dont think were getting any closer to them if you get me...

TBH with the possible departures of Ronaldo, Lampard, Drogba and potentially dodgy signings like Deco I'm not too worried what the others are doing. If we improve in top 4 matches we'll compete.
If we'd beaten Man U twice last year we'd be six points better off and they'd be six worse off. We then finish above them I think? (I'm not sure) Now I'm not saying that's possible this year, especially if Keane and Barry are our signings, but we didn't even turn up in those games last year. I agree with Carra, we need to compete first. Contemplate winning later.
If we signed no one else this summer I'd expect us to go closer than we did last year. That'd be down to some improvement on our part and hopefully some decline in the big two. Throw Keane into the mix and I dont see why we cant go closer. He's not the ideal signing by any means. But he'll definately improve what we have.
I dont think it's light years between us and the top two, despite what the press, pundits and general consensus may try to make me believe.
A good example is Arsenal. Last summer they sold Henry and bought Eduardo. People expected them to finish 5th. 3 players who'd been there over 2 years each all improved greatly to enhance the team moreso than any new signing. Of course I'm talking about Flamini (4 years there), Hleb (2 or 3 years there) and Adebayor (2 or 3 years there). I expect the same from Babel, Agger, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Aurelio and Skrtel. There are 3-4 players in that list who are potentially world class. If the new signings improve us too we'll be giving it a good go.

Crystal Palace have signed Calvin Andrew from Luton, for a fee that Neil Warnock says is well short of 6 figures.
Glad we are splashing the cash

I believe Luton players have been told that they can rip up their contracts and pretty much just play week to week for the club .... all due to the huge deduction of points which realistically will see luton in non league football next year

just an interesting thing to think abt! ive stated mine on here already but which 3 players would u happily evict from your team and which 3 (realistically based on your budget and league pos/ambission etc) would you like to replace them?
