All of your examples have a solid history!
It'll never take on in Newcastle but the media might be forced to use it. You really don't know geordies do you?
Division 1 was 116 years old when it changed to the Championship.
Also it doesn't have to take off and obviously wouldn't immediately. The point was that if anybody does come to sponsor the stadium they are now changing a name with no history and one that the fans don't love.

never called division 1 was it? and it was only the first division for about a decade, it was second division for the hundred years before that
I still know plenty of older people who refer to it as the second division which is bloody confusing

Newcastle United, officially undefeated at St James Park in the 2011-2012 season.
Pardew, what a man!

Off topic but - agree it was first division. Disagree with the rest. First Division has only ever been First Division or the Championship. Premier League came in above it and wasn't part of the Football League. So it was always First Division just where it came in the football pyramid had changed. The trophy Leeds won in 92 and QPR won last year is the same but at the time Leeds won it it was the highest league. Now it isn't.

nah, disagree. according to the football league's own website the premier league was formed by the first division breaking away. if they'd just added something on top of the football league that would've left 5 pro divisions
strangely though they also refer to divisions 1,2 and 3 which surprised me
anyway, that wasn't really my point. my point was that despite loads of renaming/rebranding people still use the old name
better example would be the league cup. this has been rebranded numerous times but is still referred to as the league cup, not by any of it's new names. in fact I can honestly say I have no idea what it's current name is
fa cup and premier league are similar. they both have official names that include a sponsors name but I just had to google to find out what they're currently called

Anagram
The Sports Direct Arena = North Easts Epic retard
Not that it is hugely important of course, but I think commerical naming of stadia works best for a new build without history attached eg Emirates, Walkers etc etc.
Eventually though it will all be forgotten and the new name will be fully adopted by the media, at least...

First Division clubs broke away. Not the actual league. Prem is FA governed others FL. Football League didn't decide to breakaway from itself. It restructured because of forming of the premier league.
Some people do but these are usually idiots where a 2min convo takes 20 hours. "How are Wednesday doing this season?" "Third in League one" "Oh the top league?" "No" "Oh what used to be the top league?" "No" "Oh which League then?" "League One" etc
FA Cup and Prem are different as they retain a competition name just change sponsors. Europa League is a better example as it's a complete rebranding rather than a sponsored competition. Loads still use UEFA but give it time and that will lessen. Time is they key. League Cup has never had one name long enough for it to stick but still think most people know it is the Carling Cup.
Whether is Sports Direct Arena or a different name altogether I reckon in 10 years if you say you're off to St James Park people will think you're going to Exeter.

When there are a lot of changes I think people just end up never forgetting. I have been to see the Miami Dolphins a fair few times in the past five years or so and I can never remember what it is called at anyone time so you end up saying I am going to Dolphin, Joe Robbie, pro player or whever it is called....you know where the dolphins play....

Trust me Nolan is awful. He did well at start of season scoring goals, but now clubs are aware of hi they mark him and he doesnt offer anything. He is farrrrrr too slow/immobile. He hasnt scored in 2010 yet.
Collocini is premiership class. Enrique is incred. Steven Taylor is good for defensive cover in premiership. Andy Carroll has lots of potential and can be just as effective as Kevin Davies and is probably more talented.
Thing with Gutierez is he is an outlet, when we are under the cosh he will run with the ball and keep it. His final product is awful but I think he could be turned into a premier league right back. As a winger his quality isnt good enough, but in the championship he gives us enough. In the premiership you simply have to take your chances.

Harps is a genuis?
He is a good championship keeper, mainly for shot stopping. He has so much experience mainly with the club, he knows what it takes to play for the club can help the younger defenders etc etc, but he is abit old now, he doesnt come for crosses and can sometimes be abit too static. I think he will be a great coach for the next 10-15 years, probably a goalkeeping coach.
Tim Krul is an amazing young talent, Dutch u21 keeper and we have turned down bids from Chelsea, arse etc etc, and I think if we get to the premiership he will be the number 1.
suppp
Why on god's earth would he suddenly become #1 in the premiership while not being so in the championship?
I'd say Krul is 3rd in the pecking order,Fraser Forster would be ahead of him if he stays at the club next season instead of going out on loan again.
As for Nolan,he might not offer much else but he grabs a goal here and there,he's scored some big goals this season and having a midfielder who can grab 7/8 in the permiership is so valuable it is unreal,if he can get around that it would be enough to keep you up providing all of the strikers don't go totally goalshy.
Just sayin...

Nolan proving once again he isn't to the standard required in the premiership. Should play Gutierez on the left with Ben Arfa off Carroll, or alternatively play two upfront with Lovenkrands paired with Carroll.
Do you think Lovenkrands is good enough for the Prem ? I definitely don't.
Also Nolan >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Routledge >>>>>>> Gutierrez.

I think we will finish top 8. Our team currently looks like
GK - Krul Really good young goalkeeper.
RB - Taylor (Good loyal defender, gets a goal or two)
CB - Williamson (No-nonsense defender, doesnt make many mistakes)
CB - Collocini (New captain, absolutely awesome for last 24 months, arguably our best player)
LB - Enrique (Reports that Barca, Liverpool and City all interested. Best LB in premiership last year, lightening fast and so composed)
DM - Tiote Labellled the new Essien, wanted by Chelsea, but we got a 5 year contract. Breaks down everything and distribution is great
CM - Cabaye New signing, described as similar to Xavi, he's awesome on the ball and Tiote/Cabaye, should work like Xavi/Busquets
RCM - Barton Fantastic delivery, settled for first time in his career. Loves the club, loves the fans and always gives a 8/10 performance
LCM - Marveux New french winger, blistering pace and shot, really exciting player that will get fans off their seats
AM - Ben Arfa Everyone in the city is talking about this guy. He was amazing against EVerton last season before Nigel De Jong broke his leg. Fast, skillful, direct, will cause defenders major problems
ST - Ba Absolute animal, 6ft3, huge and strong, defenders are going to shit theirselves. He's great in the air too and as Horneis said is a great finisher
Squad:
We have Steve Harper and Fraser Forster also going for the number 1 jersey.
Dan Gosling was signed last year and will almost be like a new signing, really looking forward to him trying to get into the first 11. Can play in the middle, on the right or at right back
Jonas Guttierez - Arguably one of our best players last year. So strong, so fast but poor end product, really good for away games as he keeps the balls and great on the counter attack
Ryan Taylor - Versatile set piece specialist
Danny Guthrie/Wayne Routledge/Alan Smith - Great Squad players
Leon Best/Shola/Lovenkrands - Decent competition for Ba.
lol biased much??
"similar to xavi"
"labellled the new essien"
"defenders are going to shit themselves"
i admire your passion but think your analysis of the squad is abioptomistic to say the least

just lol at ze geordies getting upset at a branding name change. Sniff, St James till I die, sniff. Call it what you like, no one else cares
Can't wait for them to be below mid table so they can really get fumming about Mike Ashley (probably one of the best Chairmen in the league)
