Stearn Gets Small Chunk Back -

A multiway pot gets heads up on the turn as it checks round to Billy Ngo who bets 6,500 looking at two hearts .  Alan Stearn quickly check-raises to 20k even, the third guy passes and Ngo thinks about it for a while before giving up the pot, showing the .

"That's no good is it?" fairly chortles Stearn, before adding, ominously, "Now you only owe me about another 50."

Rick Trigg raises to 3,200 from the button. Christopher Bushell in the big blind reraises to 10,200. After carefully studying the remaining 18k or so his opponent has, Trigg calls only to fold to a push on an board.

Limp limp limp (B, sb, bb).  Flop: three diamonds.  Christopher Bushell checks, Pete Singleton checks, the Button checks.
Turn: Check to Pete who bets 2,200, called by the button.
River: Low Club.  Pete checks now and then sees a bet of 7k come at him (about half his opponent's stack).  He stares, thinks and eventually makes the call with two pair: three clubs .  The button flashes the , mucks, and next time we pass the table he is no longer at it.

Elsewhere Dave Penly has just arrived, and no sooner is he through the door than he's raising to 3,500, only to pass when Mark Gogerty promptly pushes for 15,700.

Raise from Daniel Ward to 3,500. Harpit Gurnham calls before Rick Trigg makes an almost min-raise to 7,800. Ward thinks before pushing his remaining 14k in the middle. Gurnham is in a spot knowing he can't call because Trigg will move in. He ends up folding what he says was A-Q.

Trigg:
Ward:

Two Diamonds

Ward is back up to 40k, Trigg takes another hit.

A good, slow hike upwards for Richard Rudling-Smith has ended in a disastrous plunge through Busto Gorge...

He had worked his way up to around 16,000 before this happened:  He raised with preflop, one caller (the big blind, Antonio Dicesare).  The flop: .
All in!  About 13,500 to call into a pot of 8k...and he gets one.  Expecting a draw to dodge, he was pretty happy to see in Dicesare's hand, but not when the Ace hit.  Now he's a bit frustrated.  And out.

David Nisbet limps for 1,200. Alan Stearn pops it up to 5,000 and Billy Ngo makes it 13,000. The blinds and Nisbet fold and the chip leader makes the call.

Stearn quickly moves all-in, Ngo looks perplexed for a split second before saying, "Have you flopped trips?....Call." He flips . Stearn shows

Billy Ngo now just shy of 100k and the chip leader., Stearn down to 80k.

I am going to start a new list of UK slowrollers and spread it around so everyone knows who they are.

Congrats Mr Ngo you are first on the list!

Action Photo

Here's the very moment where Mark Lewis has moved all in on the river against Waheed Ashraf, having calmly but quickly check-called all the way down.  Ashraf bet 8k on the flop, 8k on the turn, but then faced the rest of Lewis's stack - 24k when the came on the river.  He dwelled and asked "Have you got Kings?" for some reason before letting it go.

Double news.

First Dave Penly finds himself having to call an extra 14k or so on top of his 14k raise on a Two Clubs three clubs flop vs Jason Wong. The 50k or so in the pot obviously swinging the decision for Dave's which needed runner runner against Jason's . He couldn't get there though.

Next and another big pot was being played by Pete Singleton and Garinder Purewal on a flop. It looked as though Pete Singleton had put in almost 30k of his stack and was contemplating folding for the remaining 25k or so after Garinder had moved all-in. After some serious thought Singleton did fold leaving his opponent, who has chopped this event twice, to boost his stack toward the upper echleons of the chip lead with something approaching 100k now.

He's hanging in there, taking inspiration in the matter of respect-inspiring militaryesque dress and posture from such leaders as General George Crook.  So far it's worked - he's taken a few Penly chips and looks like a final contender for sure.
