Thanx for your concern mate!!
As I said I've joined a gym today!!
I'm hiring a personal trainer one session a week and I'm going to do 5 sessions a week!!
My big concern is meals but I need to get some structure and routine in my life!!
Yo Gridy, I would like to offer some limited advice from my personal experience with weight loss.
I have done all sorts of diets over the years and the majority of them have failed, I lost a few pounds did well for a bit then would just put it back on again. Joined gyms and done really well for a while and then quit and put the weight back on. At the moment I am trying to make some fundamental changes to my lifestyle which are sustainable so that its not a 'lose two stone then start eating normal again' routine.
I have done a little bit of research, watched a bit of my mate paul mckenna and I believe that generally 'thin people' have a different mentality toward food than the big boys like myself. If I went for a fry up, I would get the biggest one available and smash it in in double quick time. 'Thin' people would order what they want, one day it might be a huge fry up but if they just fancied a couple of slices of toast or a bacon banjo they would have that.
In my humble opinion if you try and diet like crazy and drop 5st in 5 months you will fail, or you will succeed and put the weight back on later, but if you try and make some basic changes to your lifestyle, eat a bit better do a little more exercise not only is it much healthier it is more likely to last as it wont be a huge deal, just the way you live now.
I've been going to the gym for about a month now, eating better since January. Yesterday I had a big mac, i was hungover and fancied it, it was nice. I didn't order a large meal, 2 double cheeseburgers and a mcflurry, I ordered something i wanted but didn't go silly. Today I tried to make sure I didn't eat anything too bad, not because if I wanted something I couldn't have it but because I am trying to fundamentally change my lifestyle.
I've started to ramble on a bit which wasn't really my intention. But to summarise, small and often is the key. Make changes that you can continue and you won't give up. Go to the gym but don't over do it, try and push yourself, not because you have to but because you want to. You will see the difference in a short period of time and that will drive you on, but if you go hell for leather I would place a large bet that in the end you will fail.
GL mate. hope you do it!
