http://www.bagsracing.com/tc-page.html

For anyone not aware of this competition here are the details.  It is run on the 23rd December i think (when there is no horse racing on sis for the firms to bet on prior to xmas - betting shops used to close on this day prior to xmas eve before FOBT's arrived to give the staff their xmas holidays so they could work on the busy boxing day).  It will be on skysports live all afternoon.  It is a built for the betting shops/skysport event for the afternoon with no horse racing to offer punters.

Or perhaps a meet up when the group finds a coup and is on large - oi oi'ing every dog home on the day Cheesy

Might have a tickle on Romford @ 20s.

Agree with what you say about amazed at being run at Posh for all the reasons you said - however you also hit the nail on the head as to how they have a spot on RPGTV. Nothing is ever neutral and those with friends in high places and deep pockets get what they want in the dog world so if there were a brown envelope flying around you never know..

The other thing to consider is that because the Towcester group is so strong depth wise it is highly unlikely one of the 2nd placed highest scoring losers comes from that group imo as the points will be shared out relatively evenly in all likelihood.    This group has the 4 of the top 10 in the betting in it taking out a huge % of the ante post book and it is highly likely only one of them gets through.  Whoever does get through as well isn't going to rock up to the final as a short priced fav either.  Given this draw bias and the 1/4 1234 ew terms is really is a cracking ew betting heat imo for close to maximum stakes.

Completely agree and also with the Newcastle comments. Really can't see how they aren't favourites and must get out of a group that weak.

It's the kind of heat you could easily bet 7 or 8 ew.  Need to do a bit of work on the rags in the non towcester groups and try and work out which of the groups is most likely to have a lucky loser from it.  I think Newcastle and Hove are auto max ew bets anyway.  Probably Monmore as well.  You could back 8 ew avoiding the towcester group totally and easily have 5 out of the 6 finalists running for you out of those 8 imo.

Disagree with the Hove personally, dogs from Crayford/Romford will find it much much easier to adapt to a track like Hove than vice versa. Romford in that group for me. Agree Newc, not convinced Monmore although they are definitely a short price to qualify i'd imagine.

3 tough staying tracks in that group with Hove 515m and don 480m/Sitt 480m.  Big ask for the sprinters from Romf/Cray imo.  Happy to disagree.

Interesting betting proposition this imo.
Arby, what track nowadays would you consider the 'cheltenham' of the dog world?

Well as a pure recreational, it sure ain't Wimbledon, which is a disgrace as far as spectator amenities & general standards of husbandry, they don't appear to have heard of maintenance, & the car park alone is a health hazard.

I used to go to the dogs 6 nights a week (& often a morning at Hackney Wick & an afternoon at Watford BAGS) & Slough (now a Sainsbury) was amongst the best.

These days the only place I find half acceptable is Hove, which is pretty decent in most ways.

As Tikay says there are no Cheltenham's of the dog world anymore just varying degrees of Southwell and Wolverhampton.  FWIW Hove then Monmore are my fav tracks to actually attend.  Can't have this new Towcester dog track.  I grew up near Towcester and it was a lovely country NH track and sticking a dog track miles away from the stands has made it a real eyesore.

In terms of getting dogs beat laying them on the machine day to day Romford and Crayford are my favs financially!

I should add I used to be a 'Stow regular, and that has never really been replaced imo.

If someone wants a good night out with friends or family, Hove really is very acceptable. A table for two, including 3 course meal, overlooking the finish line, costs around £29, & the staff are generally friendly. The Restaurant Manager comes to every table late in the evening to ask if everything was OK, too.

One oddity is that it is owned by Coral, but they don't do any promotional stuff to entice those who attend to sign up to or use their Online Sports Betting site. Feels like a missed trick to me. Stick an I-pad on each table, locked open on the Coral App, & they'd get plenty of ice-cream business.

Greyhound Racing Live on Sky Sports tonight

It's the TV Trophy tonight, & Sky Sports are showing most of the card.

Anything we can have some fun with?

The TV Trophy, often dominated by a long odds on shot, seems quite open this year.

Big odds on shot went out in the heats as the track didn't suit its running style.
