The moving to Scotland or Malta, or anywhere else for that matter is hampered by my parents.
I have this overwhelming desire to not go anywhere or plan anything like that as they are both suffering from ill health at the moment. My Dad is 71 and needs a kidney transplant. He went on the list sometime last year and was told it could take up to 3 years. I have offered him one of mine but he couldn't afford my asking price
No, he rejected the offer, not sure on what grounds but knowing him he will think he is putting me out or something. The offer is there, always will be, I'm sure he would change his mind if it got to a point where it was a matter of life and death. He narrowly avoided having to go on dialysis which is good, but he has to give himself regular injections, which he sure enjoys.
My mum is 59. In the late 80's she was diagnosed with Raynauds discease and Scleroderma, which is linked to circulation. It's quite a rare discease i think, or it was when she was first diagnosed. A few years ago she developed osteopersois. The Raynauds & scleroderma has been contained by various types of medication over the years, but it lead to problems with being able to walk for long or for distance. In June last year she had an operation to clear some blockages in her legs and her pelvis, there was a risk involved with these ops, mainly that she could develop heart failure, she felt it was worth the risk as her abillity to walk was getting less and less each week. The op went well and she went on holiday in July for 2 months. About 2 weeks into the holiday she noticed that she was unable to walk for any real distance, 15-20 feet maybe. Then would take 10 mins to recover. A few visits to the hospital in Malta confirmed that she had heart failure, there wasn't anything that could be done and it was decided that she should wait til she got back to England to see her consulatant. She went in for some planned treatment in September and the Docs there confirmed what had been said in Malta. She got up one night to go to the toilet whilst on her stay at the Royal Free and on the way back she collapsed, will save the details but had she not been in hospital with the nurses etc around her then she wouldn't be here today. She is in hospital this week for some more planned treatment, she has chemotherapy for scarring on her lungs ( I think) and is to have something fitted just above her heart which would release a drug into her heart to help it function better as at the moment she is on oxygen 24 hours a day. She will at some point have to have a lung transplant in the future if she is to recover fully, but she has to get better first before that is considered.
I have mentioned earlier that they drive me bananas but all things considered I can see how they might be a bit tetchy at times. I'm proud of them the way they just get on with it as much as they can.
I hope they can get better soon.

Your folks sound great, the 'tetchy' bits seem like good old fashioned married banter to me
My mum and dad are like that, and tbh I would be very concerned if I went round there and didn't witness the banter at any stage lol.
Hope all goes well for your mum in hospital. The Royal Free, many moons since I have been inside there.

Defo the best new diary so far imo and will go furthest of the lot I reckon.
Re: your IR career, you play Betty IR the same way you play poker. Fair bit of talent, too spewy, and at least one curry break an hour. Need more dicipline but ability is there for sure.
How come your Scotch accent is so strong if you left there at 11? Remember a guy came to our secondary school at about the same age, the splendidly named Neil Bing. Had the strongest Scotch accent ever but got it ripped so often he soon developed a fenland drawn like mine.

I'm gonna knock cash games on the head for a couple of weeks. I think it might be affecting the way I play tournaments. Dunno for sure, but we will see.
