Have you looked at Vegas yet this year?

Whats you plan.. dates, where to stay etc.

Im thinking 3 weeks this time, and to coincide with the main and then have a big push at the sats for the main while im there or before hand.

Im contemplating three weeks at the rio. The Wifi was OK last time not great and I will need Wifi for work (boring life i know).

Whats peoples views on the Palms this time around?

When I left Vegas last time, I vowed to do the whole series, or at least get close to that. I love it there so much. And I'd stay in Palms Place again probably.

However now I can't see me spending that much time away from Victoria, and hoping she'll have a job by then so I can't exactly take her with me.

If it wasn't so spewy, I'd go out for the first 2.5 weeks and then come back and go out there for the last 2.5 or something like that.

Haven't decided. It seems pretty certain i'll be there for the last  2-3 weeks though.

I really like the set-up at Palms Place, thought the rooms were great, amazing view and good gym and spa set-up, nice pool and pool-side restaurant and it's really close to the Rio. A great point is that it's not a casino so you feel like you're away from it all, you don't have to hear the slot machines as you go through reception every night etc.

As we know though, the casino is just a short walk away though if one does get the urge....

What was the deal with the internet at the Palms, i seem to recall you got a login and could use that on loads of devices is that right?

Most airlines are currently offering Scandinavia to Vegas return for around £1100. In Business. Pretty good value.

Yeh think so. Can't remember exactly but used my phone and laptop no problem. We booked through main event travel and that included Internet- you have to pay normally, was quite a lot iirc.

Last week in Barcelona. Mixed feelings.

When I walk outside and see this, I feel like what am I doing?!

And this was yesterday!

But it's not a place to live, at least not for me/us. For starters the apartments don't have central heating, because it's just not required 90% of the time. But in winter it's joke cold at night and i've been sleeping in trackies socks jumpers etc last couple nights! We have a heater which blasts hot air until you turn it off. So we're waking up 20 times per night to turn it on and off again. Not fun.

And just generally I feel so isolated here, away from the poker scene, away from my friends and family and just feel like I'm going nowhere. Not to mention Victoria needs to find her way in life too, a job/career, and she wants to settle too - moving around all the time and living out of a suitcase is only fun for so long.

It's a beautiful city, and remains one of my favourite cities in the world - but happy with the decision to not live here and move on.

I've been using my last couple weeks productively. Eating well, exercising (I've even started running as I'm 26 now...my metabolism can no longer work off all the shit I eat on it's own!), working hard on Russian - we're on countries/nationalities now - Victoria tells me that handwritten letters of the alphabet are totally different to printed letters! So m = T and M = something else, and all sorts of annoying rules and exceptions keep cropping up...Also been doing some coaching, both being coached and coaching, enjoying and benefiting from both. Definitely don't work on my game enough so gonna do more of that. I've played a few online sessions with mixed results. Not much I can play from Spain though.

Can't wait to get to Deauville and get stuck in with some big live events again.

The main events I'm playing are FPS main and hiroller, EPT main and hiroller with any side events that I'm available for as well. There's almost no grinders going that I know of, less than 5 i think so it should be really good value but I guess kinda boring - it's all about that gold...

Just arrived in Deauville. There's almost no UK regs going that I know of so it's gonna be a quiet one, but hopefully that'll mean more profitable. I'm sharing with Ben Dobson who arrives tomorrow. Nick Hicks is coming and Ludo said he probably would but other than that hardly know anyone!

Can see why, it is such a pain to get to - I had a very long journey 3am till 2pm door-to-door from Barcelona ticking off Tikay's transport bingo chart with exactly one flight, one taxi, one bus, one train, one metro, one walk. With all my stuff from Barcelona as I moved out yesterday too! Not fun.

Will post daily updates from this trip I think as there'll be great tournaments each day and not much else to do here!

For now though, an opinion poll.

Today I got in a taxi for what google maps said was a 10/12 minute drive to a train station in Paris. The driver started driving, I noticed there was no meter so asked him how much it was. €38 he said! Fixed price!

I could see a metro station so I told him to do one and went for the metro. The metro costs €1.80

Let's say you knew for certain that the metro would take one hour and involve two changes and lots of dragging around two heavy suitcases up and down steps etc. We have 1hr 45min to get our train, so plenty of time.

At what level of net worth do you say fk it and get the taxi?

Fred's response "€40, maybe less" Cheesy

My answer is regardless of bags tbh. Only works out cheaper if you value your time and energy at £0.00.

This is me first 4 days, then Ben has 5* pokerstars package so moving there for the rest of it! I like this those, very french, spacious. Nice place to relax after tournaments anyway - better than a hotel.

If you were offered a job as a metro tester earning €36.20/hr after tax would you consider taking it?

All you have to do is ride the metro for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and report on your day of metro testing.

It works out at £27.06 so on our 40hr week £1082.40 after tax which is £56,284.80 per year.

To come out with that figure you'd need to be on a salary of £85k.

Would you ride the metro for 8 hours a day for an £85k salary?

This is a guy that had €50 to his name one time and was spinning on Ultimate Texas Holdem, got it to €1200, kept going higher and higher, I said, at what point do you quit? He said €1600, so I can buy into tomorrow's comp!
