I think I know his answer!

Absolute certainty Cheesy

Nice to put these things in perspective though sometimes. I wouldn't think twice about that €38 taxi instead of having to cope with an hour on the metro but when you think of it in terms of earning rather than spending it almost becomes worth that second thought.

My answer is regardless of bags tbh. Only works out cheaper if you value your time and energy at £0.00.

If you were offered a job as a metro tester earning €36.20/hr after tax would you consider taking it?

All you have to do is ride the metro for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and report on your day of metro testing.

It works out at £27.06 so on our 40hr week £1082.40 after tax which is £56,284.80 per year.

To come out with that figure you'd need to be on a salary of £85k.

Would you ride the metro for 8 hours a day for an £85k salary?

Haha pretty interesting question.

Would probably take the job but not sure if I could last the year. Not seeing much day light because you play poker is depressing enough without being stuck underground with thousands of sweaty commuters.

Not really sure how I would explain to my family how my career since university has gone off on such a tangent either.

They'd see it as an upgrade I'm sure!

Day two of FPS Grand Final with 60k from 25k starting. 600/1200 next.

Amazing comp. 467 runners on day 1a. Probably get 700+ tomorrow. I'd say this was the best value 1k I've ever played.

This blog has been actually very hand history free in the past year or so, I guess partly a conscious decision and a result of me being less excited by run-of-the-mill I had Ace King etc HHs. But I had some interesting / funny hands today.

Hand 1

Despite poor feedback and a backlash from the computer poker brigade, I brought back the donk bet, and for once, it didn't have disastrous results.

Raise QQ utg1 600 at 100/200, MP1 3bets to 1550, MP2 cold calls. MP1 French, 30s, MP2 Russian, very inexperienced live, could be very wide here. I SMOOTH CALLED.

I BET OUT 2500, MP1 raises to 7500, MP2 folds. I jam 16k, he calls.

Wasn't loving it, expecting to see KK/AA a decent amount. But could be JJ or AKdd AQdd (i didn't have ) and can never rule out the French Factor of him just having some random shit, Tx, other FD or worse. Held vs A8dd.

Hand 2

ACES

Aforementioned Russian, raised MP1 to 1200 at 250/500, CO calls, BTN is a pretty tight older french guy, makes it 3400. I'm loving life. Make it 8400 from SB. Russian doesn't see my raise and throws in a 5k chip to call the 3400. Now he has to / chooses to anyway call the 8400. He has 3k back. CO folds and the BTN calls too. He has about 19k back. Interesting...

We get a nice 887 flop and the pot is about 26k. I have to check this of course, but it checks round. 2 on the turn, and I bet 6k. Have to bet twice to get stacks in vs the BTN if possible so checking again didn't think was an option. Both fold quickly!

Hand 3

Open CO A7o 1200 at 250/500. SB and BB peel. , checks to me, I cbet 1900, SB folds, quick raise from oldish French guy to 4500, I call. two hearts turn, he jams 16500!

I've seen him play one hand (quite new to table) and it was him jamming 15k from the bb after 3 limps of 500...

If I hadn't witnessed that hand it's an easy fold, decided to fold anyway, thinking that he could just have AJ, A9, and I'm dead. J9 or bigger ace I'm in very bad shape and a big draw I'm 70-80%.

Got shown .

Good look Alex.

Sounds like a very juicy prizepool.

In all the places you've played, where (or which festival or whatever) do you think people have just loved playing poker the most? Is England the place where people sitting at a poker table looks about as fun as a fart in an astronaut suit or is there somewhere worse?

I think generally the French/Spanish and Italian have the most passion and express that passion externally more than any other countries.

I went to Marrakech last year for a Winamax 6 maxcomp and that was probably the most fun I saw people having during a poker tournament. I think that was mainly to do with the clientale Winamax attracts and their business model rather than Morocco itself though. And they had special 6 max tables and gave free sombreros and orange sunglasses for all players. That had morale sky high all week.

Somewhere worse than England? A Venetian 2/5 game is a pretty depressing place to be in Vegas.

FPS Grand Final Day Two

RAN KINGS INTO ACES SO SICK

For 10 big blinds. On the the river on an ace high board.

It's all about how you spin the story see?

Did get a bit unlucky with 85 though! Flopped two pair on 852ddx and got it in vs 76o for 120k at 1/2k, which would've been a nice stack but alas got rivered. ALWAYS THE RIVER.

Played a 500 1r1a satellite, and profited €500 because I didn't take the rebuy. More extreme bad luck losing with ATo vs AA vs JJ. I'm telling you I never seem to win those.

Played a 770 turbo satellite and...well can't really spin it any way to make it sound like a success. Got my bowl in with QJ no spade on a Q high board all spades vs AQ with the Ace of spades. Again, lost the flip.

Hopefully in tomorrows FPS Hiroller!

O Alex, what's going on with you playing all these good hands! I thought you'd have learnt from me, you know how much money I'd have if I never played premiums? Wink

2.2k FPS Hiroller

Less enthused about reporting on today's event with the spirit and gusto of yesterdays report!

Was one of those horrid days where you never get going (actually I did get going in the first orbit but then was back to "not going" again almost instantly) and slowly dribbling away one ante at a time, grinding, sitting patiently, for 12 levels, waiting for a spot, found the spot, got them in there, lost.

0/4 in the first "bit" of the trip but it's a new start tomorrow. New hotel (EPT 5% oioi) and it's the serious stuff now. EPT main event tomorrow, though I'm gonna play 1b and then the hiroller on the 5th. Got the run bad out the way now, and now I'm ready for that big shiny trophy.
