Yeah I obv just bought him a drink , he seemed like a nice guy but was really busto. He was a waiter and its the middle of the month so may of been drunk. If he had asked me for pure £ ten I woulda said no I think.

In a 1/2 game last week at DTD I was at a table with Andy, Simon, Ged (another DTD reg) and 4 middleaged lads who had come from Derby or somewhere nearby, having a few drinks and spunking off ££. 10 minutes in, Andy got stacked in a hand where he shoved the turn with a set and got snapped by Lad#1 who had a flush and held. Immediately after, Lad#2 says to Andy “Bad move mate!”. Obviously pissed off at this Andy snaps back “Why are you saying that after I’ve just lost a big pot, keep your comments to yourself etc etc”. The other 3 leap to his defence using completely illogical and invalid arguments to defend Lad#2 such as “That’s poker mate, if you can’t take losing big pots don’t play” and “it’s alright for you 4 lads to have a laugh isn’t it but when we say anything it’s out of order”.
They were completely missing the point and had no etiquette whatsoever and it felt like at times it was two groups of people from different planets trying to converse with one another. Anyway, things got a bit heated but then died down a bit. 15 minutes went by peacefully, Lad#3 then loses £50 in a pot (tiny in comparison) trying to bluff Andy off the nuts and I think now would be a great time for a clever joke and I say with a cheeky smile on my face “Bad move, mate” to Lad#3. Obviously hoping they would be able to laugh it off as the pot was ridic small compared to the one Andy lost. Epic misread, now everything kicked off. Lad#3 called Andy a fat c*** when he hadn’t said a word since the first time. I was called an arrogant c*** etc etc. They offered to take us 4 outside and sort it out there.
It was all very unpleasant and I didn’t fancy playing anymore. I always react badly to those situations and would definitely end up trying to bluff my whole stack off or level myself into making a ridic hero to try and get one over on them. My ego always reacts very badly in those situations so I got up and left, relying on the others to stack them, which of course, they eventually did. It was also an excuse for a cheeky hit n run, having doubled up within the first few hands
Should definitely try and be less of a clever twat sometimes.

I almost went for the "Do you know who my father is?" line but thought better of it;

I've been in that situation alot of times. I don't tilt off though.
I think I can fight my corner far better than most people my age and have had plenty of verbal confrontations in the past. Usually with regs trying to exploit fish etc. I once had a run in with Carlo Citrone, that wasn't too pleasant
Talk as much as you want, but don't let it be a disadvantage, you can even make it +ev, it helps me with making thinner calls/not bluffing as much etc.

Bottom line is the live poker scene in the UK is ram packed full of chavs. I rarely play live in the UK and when I do I make sure I can veto the player list and strip out the undesirables. Playing in Ireland and the States is a far more enjoyable experience imo.
