Sigh can't find a single company that does travel insurance for Colombia. All the policies exclude countries that are advised against by the FCO. Any ideas anyone?
Hello Alex,
I do not know how much time you have before going to Colombia, but IF you are flying relatively frequently... I would recommend you to get an American Express Gold (or better) card.
I used to have the same problem with insurances and 2 years ago I got the AmEx and it has been great. They provide full health insurance (up to 1Mirrrrion)... as well as flights in case of delay/cancellation. They also have this service in ALMOST every country (Laos has been the only country until today that did not provide it) where you have this 24/7 number that you can call whatever happens and they will take care of literally ANYTHING you might need urgently.
Oh...obviously they provide that insurance ONLY if you buy the airplane tickets with AmEx... exactly the same goes for Renal Cars etc. You also get to go into almost every business lounge at airports etc. They are also very friendly people... they have conditions on their website about how much you have to spend/make etc... but they are very flexible and once you get one you can bargain with them a little bit. Currently i Only need to Spend 20k a year on that particular credit card to get all the benefits. Oh, and you can get your partner/family the same card too for them to benefit from it... and for example: 2 gold cards ONLY need to spend 20k/year...so... it is definitely worth taking a look! maybe not for this trip but for the next one!
Hope it helps! Btw, got the insurance with Admiral... nice people too... paying 1,8 but with only those 300 pounds that you have to pay yourself for the little things... pretty cool.

If anyone asks about your travel insurance while you're out there, just tell them your rich family are insuring you. You might get a free van ride into the jungle out of it!

Million that you cut corners on the insurance if PJ was still in makeup
Seriously though, if something happens that requires you to be flown home for treatment (and if something happens, you'll want to be flown home for treatment) then £10k isn't nearly gunna cut it.
gl with the trip and make sure you get a window seat on the flight if you're going from Miami. Goes right over the Caribbean and the mountains in the north of Colombia, incred views.

Definitely if your training has been in the UK over the last couple of years..Columbian Flu can be deadly and certainly isn't covered on any travel insurance

Day 1. Arrived safely after long long day travelling.
Playing day 1b tomorrow for me, today for you. Checked into the hotel, seems pretty basic. Nice clean big room though with a good shower and big comfy bed. Just ordered room service. "Hamburguesa Doble Res" with a Coke, costing 13,000 pesos, which is less than £5.
Had an amazing cup of freshly squeezed Mandarin juice at the airport for about £1. So so good. Used to have freshly squeezed juice all the time in South America, it's so nice and cheap too. I was last here in May 2008 so it's been a long time but it feels nice to be back.
Haven't seen any of Colombia yet. Was night when I arrived and I got a transfer bus with a fellow qualifier "Bruno" from Portugal, who is in the room next door. He's a sng grinder on stars and flicked it in for a 22$ satty without really thinking about what would happen if he won - standard! I said I played because I wanted to go to Colombia. Now I'm here I'm not so sure, definitely a bit apprehensive about the trip beyond the poker tournament.
RE Travel insurance. Those making comments saying "don't cut corners" - I'm not trying to, I have no choice that I can see. No commercial insurer will give insurance Colombia. If anyone can find someone that does, then great, please let me know. I couldn't, so my Dads offer has got to be better than nothing.
I've heard bad things about the food here, so I think food poisoning is going to be the biggest risk of illness. Other than that, I'm sure I'll be fine, I've spent 4 months in Kenya (not a single problem), 2 months in south east asia (no problems) and 6 months in central america&south america (one stabbing, wasn't a big deal). So I'm sure there won't be any issues, but obviously I'd like some insurance just in case.
Looking forward to the comp a lot now. Room service here now, gl me...

Oh it did not go well. Not at all. It was so moist that it just fell apart and there was no cuttlery to eat it with and it had all sorts of stuff in that I didn't like the look of much. Here's what's left of it.

Speaking to John Tabatabai who's been out here a couple of weeks, he says that may be the best meal I get all trip. MARV.

Put your piano back together and found a good spot for it in your room.
Plenty of room in the living room for a nice sofa now.

say whaaa? how did you find all the screws for it?
And why dont u twats want to have it in the living room? Why would you rather watch that cricket drivel or Jeremy Kyle than listen to a nice bit of Debussy or Brahms? Could limit it to just "popular" music?
I guess I should say thanks for building it back together though.
