Alex, grats on the bink. Would you mind elaborating? Your bink, after months of beats. Do you feel happy (like the happiness you felt after your MC bink, considering at the time you weren't particularly financially stressed?) Or do you feel an overwhelming sense of relief?
If its relief, would you say that's from a financial aspect? Or from a personal achievement perspective?
Also, bink on stars next time pls. Ta
It doesn't "feel" as good as a live win, but it's right up there with my happiest days in poker yeh.
Relief is a big part of it yeh. From a superficial point of view and from a financial point of view. It's a monkey off the back, never having success online was something I didn't like on my poker CV - even though I knew I was a winning player in these MTTs and it was a good use of my time for the past 12 months lol, it's nice to now have a result to show for it.
It's always annoying when you know you're good at something but because you can't prove it people don't really believe you and you get comments like "why don't you just stick to live if that's what you're good at" - that kind of grinds my gears. I'm really proud of myself that I've stuck by something that I've been struggling with, both in terms of results and in terms of lack of enjoyment, for about a year now and although I hate the term "prove" in poker, because this doesn't "prove" anything - I feel now like a) all the time spent playing wasn't wasted and b) my judgement is bang on. Now I feel like "the complete player" - with a record in all areas that I've specialised in live and online, which makes me very happy.

Not sure I get this - at the time of the MC bink I had a £3k roll and was very financially stressed! The happiness after MC might never be topped. Even if I won a bracelet or EPT I might not be able to eclipse that feeling. I'm gonna try though

Nice touch Alex especially after a bad run.
Knocking it in night after night playing MTT's online can be a soul-destroying experience as I well know, so it comes as a combination of relief, elation and redemption when you finally crack it.

Pretty hilarious tweet from winamax today, linking this article, they found me on twitter and found this hilarious picture of me. It's translated from French so doesn't really flow well as a news piece....

Wow, that is something else, Alex!
As a matter of interest, why do you play on Winamax? Do they have especially good Tourneys, software, or is it deemed "soft" because it is French, or a blend of all those things?
There must be at LEAST one Site in France which is better, & away from France, surely 'Stars would provide the best range of everything that is good in a Poker Site?
What is special about Winamax that has someone who is good enough to win an SPT Main Event play there?
Do all The Boyz play there?

It's a combination of everything Tikay, I really like all the things you mentioned about it. I like that the field sizes are managable, so the variance is lower - the structures are really long and most of the tournaments are 6max which suits my game well. Stars is great yeh, but it's tougher and the field sizes are just monstrous the variance is so hard to overcome. Even Stars.fr is bigger and tougher now.
Yes all the boys play it too, I had it to myself up until about September last year, then everybody started playing it.
When's the next SPT Tony? Still remember day 1 of that Nottingham leg as one of the most fun days of tournament poker I've ever had. Of course day two wasn't bad either - but I just loved the atmosphere and everything about that event right from the off.

Funny you said that about sky poker tour. I played at weekend and even said was the only time I actually enjoyed playing live poker for probably 5 years- no sunglasses on show, no headphones, no i pads, no miserable old people, no horrid kids and range discussions- people even were going to the bar and having a beer at the break. Was so refreshing- and defo the atmosphere was completely different to a normal tournament

Thanks! Erm I don't mind the phrase really no. Yes I don't see why I wouldn't class myself as a young english grinder.

Is a good result, but everyone knows crushing Le Payback and Le Go Fast is more prestigious.

Blackpool last year was incred for this, even the young grinders got to the bar and in the spirit of things.

Agreed, was fun at Nottingham too. GUKPT London seemed to have shed the hoodies, headphones and iPads too. Was like going back in time.
