Extra Curricular
Most recently I had a great night out in Bristol with this group

At the front next to me is me 8 years ago. 18 years old, wide eyed, absolutely loving the game, just about to start uni but all he can think about is Vegas and the fkn mirage. I like meeting people like that. I certainly wasn't playing UKIPTs when I was 18 though!
That was a great night, because I'd had the worst trip possible poker wise, maximum bullets and losses in cash and online (coincided with the PLO spin down...) but got talked into going out and had the best time. So can look back on Bristol with some positivity now!

This is me with my trademark manly cocktail, attending Victoria's Empire Casino Role Model dinner -a dinner for the best employee's basically. She's been doing really well there and was one of only 3 or 4 poker dealers to be invited. So well done to her!

This was another great night out. This time in Derby, where we went to support our friend Craig who's a pro pool player. He had a big money match and I had a bet on, and went up to support him. He took it down and morale was incred afterwards.
And before that was our annual holiday in Italy with my Dad. Some obligatory holiday photos for the record. Check out the BBQ system, never seen that before, have you?!

Victoria could give 3 cards to UTG every hand and put 7 cards on the flop and I'm sure she'd still get invited to that dinner.

Haha.
Not a bad write up.

Craig Lakin?? I watched a couple of his Cash games recently he lost one and won the other, one he lost was suprised he lost too he is pretty darn good at the pool. I assume he has a backer in these? or does he take 100% himself? id love to go along sometime for the night would be pretty cool, i play a bit of pool and snooker and wouldnt be in his league unfortunately but if he is in my area Kent or London ever i shall certainly pop along. How did he do in vegas? surely he must of been out there around the World Series

Yeh that's him. He has a backer who puts up a chunk of the money and the rest gets shared around his mates or whoever wants a bet. He gets a 20% freeroll on the whole pot. So we're betting at 4/5 I think is what you sports bettors would call it!
I had never been before that, but it was really good fun, Defo recommend it. Think his next match is in Newcastle.

London is finally living up to my expectations. The games this week have been absolutely incred. I've played some of the best games of my life this week.
I rarely post hands here these days but I've had some real thrills this week so I'll share the best ones.
£2/2 Triple Flop Omaha
Triple flop is a sick game. It's a 5max game, so everyone can get 6 cards. As you might guess, there's plenty of gamble
You have to win a majority of the boards to scoop.
My hand:
Board 1:
Board 2:
Board 3:
So I don't have all that much. Nut straight plus extension on 1, 3card wrap and fd on 2, top pair and fd on 3. Looking back I really cocked this hand up
. I basically ended up pot stuck, and kept having to call bets and raises until all the money was in three ways!
I knew where I was at pretty confidently. There was a guy who repotted pre who only ever does that with AAxxxx even when he shouldn't, so he obviously had the middle board, which i have up to 21 outs to win. The other guy had probably turned a house on board 1, so i have just two outs there. And on the bottom board I'm pretty thin but likely win with a Jack or spade so have about 20% there.
At the time there was a real incident kicking off on the table behind with this drunk guy, and I couldn't think straight or even hear how much more it was to me to call, ended up fkn up pretty bad and called off thinking it was £600 more to call when it was actually £1200 or something. Pot was like £5k but running the numbers after against their hands I needed more like 5:1 instead of the 3.2:1 i was getting.
So I lost the pot and immediately after the drunk guy did something so ridic that I, in the heat of the moment, ill-advisidely, made it quite obvious to security that I felt he needed to be kicked out. He didn't like that, not one bit! He squared up to me as I was stood up counting out the thousands of pounds I had to pay out in the pot lol, and I was 80% sure he was gonna smack me. I just decided to sit down and hope he'd changed his mind and not hit a sitting target
Luckily security came just in time. Not a good moment!
More to come...

£10/25/50 PLO
I originally thought this was a £5/10/25 ROE game when I sat down, but turns out, it was at least twice the size, and only PLO! I should have probably just got up and left but I'd had a good week so felt like gambling it up and taking a shot. I sold half my action but even so, the £100 straddle was on every hand and often the £400 straddles were flying about. It was a huge huge game. About half the table had big stacks £40-80k iirc, and the other half a bit shorter (5-20k). Guess which half I was in lol? This was the biggest game I've ever played in.
And pretty soon into the game I played one of the biggest pots I've ever played.
I called a £300 open after a few callers on the button with
and someone in the blinds raised to £1900, three callers and I was closing the action, called as well.
Flop
. I don't remember the ranks of the clubs too well, since I wasn't really concerned about that, I just put all my chips in once someone else had done the same and that was that! He had the K flush with KK and the board paired on the turn to give me a little sweat...
The river bricked and I scooped. Yay! That was some thrill.

I had some great nights playing holdem too but no one hand seems sticks out to post. Actually a hand from a 1/1 game might be the sickest one!
This was last night in DTD, we'd been to Old Trafford to watch Utd Brugges and were staying in Notts for todays Sky Hiroller, so stopped by DTD at about 1am for a quick spin.
We played 1/1 and the game was mad, I turned £800 into £2k in an hour of very good fortune, and then played maybe the biggest pot £1/1 I've ever played!
I basically got involved with the might
and flopped huge on
and turn a
for extra oomph. Made a big all-in on the turn, thinking I could get the man off KQ etc (I was 3better pre and he was the caller so I could have AK/AA not him, ahem...!) but the guy made a great call with TT and turned it over like a boss when he called too.
River....
Brick. DOH!

Since the hiroller starts at 7pm, we decided that we weren't quite done gambling yet once DTD closed at 330, so me and stato went to Alea and played £2/2 DC!
It was about 6am when I decided to call it a day and said last 3 hands. Then I got stuck in a big super stud hand with A23, when stato repotted to £85, two allins for £200 and £100 respectively, and stato shoved £500 effective. Super Stud is the game I have the least clue in by far, but I knew Stato also didn't know what he was doing and considering the price I was getting thought it was worth a gamble. Might be horrific though I have really no idea
It turns out he
really
didn't know what he was doing. Literally. He thought it was PLO and didn't see the paddle.
Obviously he won

How does selling action in a cash game work Alex? Is it always at 1.0 or do markups sometimes happen? Is it sold on a session-by-session basis or longer term?
Just curious. Loving the insights from the latest updates.
