Also think about what you're going into - dealing 50/1 and bowl freezeouts in Genting is just going to be immensely frustrating, mind numbing and boring. No offence meant to the guys that work there - Richard is a great guy and working with him and the other ex DTD lot will be fun at times I'm sure. But remember how you felt about dealing at DTD a year ago? You'll have to work certain hours, you'll be on basically minimum wage and you just won't feel as good about yourself. Don't tell me it doesn't feel great walking into DTD everyday as a pro, playing the biggest game in the building, crushing it and winning a months wages in a night?

Coughs lol, seriously it is nothing like DTD we had a glitch about a month ago but all the dealers like working there and they feel like its their cardroom. Nothing is stopping him playing the biggest game in DTD and crushing it, but probably a good idea to 100% be able to live and use his roll to play with knowing that the bills will get paid if the downswings start to hurt.

I think it'll make it harder on both sides tbh.

When playing say 1/2, you can lose 500, 1000 even more (5.5k is Mitch's record I believe Tongue) in a single night. How demoralising is that going to be knowing you'll have to work 60/100/150 HOURS to make that money back as a dealer?

What about when he puts in loads of hours dealing over a busy period and say does 40 hours over a weekend and earns say £300. He then sits down to play 1/2 with £300 and loses KK vs AA in the first orbit. That's his weekends work vanished in 5 minutes.

How demoralising is that going to be?

but can you separate them in your mind? I don't think I could, and knowing Sean, he won't be able to either. Mentally, it'll be impossibly hard for him I think.

I can't answer that for Sean.

But at some stage in your life Alex you will have to do the same, and I don't mean that in a condescending way btw

Yh, I agree.

My advice would be if you're truly done with poker then don't go back to dealing at dusk, gather up the rest of your bankroll and go take a big holiday, travel somewhere do something you've always wanted to do but the BR couldn't take the hit and blow it (leaving yourself a small amount of 'living money' you're in a unique position you have no job (if you've quit poker) access to some monies and all the time and freedom in the world. If you get a sick experience out of it, all the work will be worthwhile and poker will have given you something special.

Then figure out what job you ACTUALLY want, my instinct would be something in graphic design? Seems to be a passion + something you're clearly really good at (this is just me speculating could be anything) and put your focus into that completely. Don't play poker on the side of this trust me it just doesn't work, it's diverts your focus from your work, it fucks your sleeping up cos it's at night and the mental anguish of winning and losing in less controlled circumstances will likely be off-putting. Take a good break whilst you get your new focus. If you decide after 3-4 months of so it's shit, then quit and do something else, poker, dealing, travelling, a new career, whatever you want.

Basically just don't get a prospect-less job to support poker on the side as you'll be putting half your half-arsed time into a job you don't care for too much, and the other half into poker, which you'll enjoy less because there will be constraints on your play and you'll not get any satisfaction from either. Imo the choice really is one of the other, either really put your focus into something your passionate about, or stick with poker till you finish it off. If you're passionate about poker then don't get a job, work harder on that.

Not all current young poker pros will need to do anything other than poker for the rest of their lives. Also FACT.

I'm unlikely to be one of them but since Alex is delving into EPTs etc no reason why he can't be in that group.
