Some estate agents are bottom of the food chain in terms of how they act. We had 4-5 well established agents trying to steal our business when we were moving. Very naughty, even shit talking the place we went with.
I remember the troubles you had at the time and unfortunately there are bad apples in every town, I try to deal with people and advise them as if they were a member of my own family and then believe that I can never give bad advice.

Obv in the current economic climate EA business has dropped by 30-50% for some firms so they are desperate for business and will do anything to survive ie undercutting for business which is very very short term and it only takes a short to ruin your reputation in a town/city

Rich isn't this like the gazumping which was rife in the 80's/90's. It does seem to be out of order, not by you obv.
This reminded me of my father in law who was a top consultant radiologist for 30 years. He worked for the NHS at the same hospital for pretty much all of his career and also worked privately. About 10 years ago he was approached by a hospital which was opening a new specialised unit dealing with breast cancers and they asked him if he'd like to head it. They offered him a big increase to his annual salary and the promise of contributing another to his pension pot. He accepted and for openess his new employer asked him to let his existing employer what was going on.
He told his existing hospital and they immediately offered him more money to stay. He turned this down as he wasn't trying to get more money and that he had already accepted the new position.

The following day the new hospital withdrew their offer because the old hospital had called them to say my father in law was playing them off against each other. This off course was untrue. So with the new job out of the window he went back to his employer and told them unless they honour the counter offer they made he was handing his notice in and going to retire. They gave him the money but after 2 years he had had enough and retired taking himself off the medical register 6 months later because they kept hassling him to come back.
Wow great story, with employment I have always been a great believer that once you have decided to go then you should and never try to reneg with your current employer as if they felt you were worth it why didnt they give you that ££ in the first place plus if you say you are going then stay I always think the company feel they own you a little more as they "gave you a rise"  just my opinion obv.

Gazumping well yes it is close to it but the other chap changed his situation and re-inforced his offer so it's not quite the same as he didnt offer higher just to get the property his offer was that anyway it just sucks that we were more confident with buyer A but could not hide offer B and then you have to do the right thing...

Sounds like your father in law was well respected in that field.

It must be quite difficult when you represent both the seller and buyer to be totally impartial. As you say doing the right thing can screw you up more often than not.

Yes my father in law had a cushy job. He used to go all over the world advising on gastroenterology (his speciality) and also buying equipment with millions in his back pocket. He used to get treated like a rock star when on a buying trip. Limos and all. He like the quiet life now and is very much enjoying his retirement.

that's the thing we dont actually represent the buyer and everything we do is about the seller who pays the fees hence you have to act in their interest so hiding offers is against that and obv can cost them money.

Ahhh retirement seems like a long way away..

Today I dont rally fancy much but have invested £80 on btts matches with my favs for the weekend being
Burton v Accrington, Rotherham v Gillingham, Ipswich v Millwall, Port Vale v Chesterfield and Bury v Leton O being the cornerstones of my accas

also a cheeky 4 team draw acca for £20 with Villa, Forest, Crawley, Fleetwood

GL to all the PUNTERS out there this weekend!!

Details of comma day?

Well despite these teams doing tez and just Forest letting me down for the draw four fold which paid £2200  Sad I had a bet with Dubai which was from my £1100 held by him and had a £300 double on QPR to win or draw vs Stoke @ 575/1000 and Wycombe to win or draw vs Morecambe @ 381/1000 with both teams drawing 2-2 this meant a total return of £652.52 and profit of £352.52

Then I had this cop

and finally for Saturday all the boys in the office we have a goals challenge on certain matches and throw in a fiver each and this last 2 weeks they introduced  a new coupon for us to use and see who gets the most right and as people who know me would confirm there is no way I could have a stab at this which pays 33/1 if you get them right and not have a few quid on as well so stuck £15 on at 33/1 and oioioi

Which brought a total return for the day of £1615.24 from a staked figure of £450 and despite not making  the money or getting close it was good to catch up with a few blondes and meet the legend that is Tal.

Sunday was a different day altogether with a big loser and an average winner

I really fancied BTTS in the Burton v Accrington so invested £452 out the £1452 held by Dubai at 4/6 & 8/13 but it was 1-0 with the away side losing their best striker James Beattie in the warm up  Sad but then redressed some of the balance with

Obv would love to post all before but sometimes imposs with work and random punts but as bet with Shallow a lot I know he would defo call me out if I forgot to mention any of them and believe there would be no point in doing it if I didnt post the losers as well.

Due to limited time next year may have to just do this on a weekly warts and all basis, not sure what to do yet.....

It's pretty scary when you are expecting a baby (obv not me) as you always have that nagging feeling about things especially as for the past 3 weeks Petra has been flying all over the place with one trip without me and having to take Max and luggage etc with her so when they got back the weekend it was great to see them and get back to family life although Max has a small rash on his skin which he is now having to have cream applied all over 3 times a day in a massage kinda way. He obviously loves this and just lies or sits there whilst we massage him legs and feet then arms torso back and neck and head just gotta hope Petra does not expect the same!!

Monday though I got the call from her that having been back 24 hours she cant remember feeling the baby move  which instantly fills you with negative thoughts and they do recc that if over a 24 hour period you have not felt the baby move then you should contact them so off to the NHS drop in place she went and luckily all is ok and the baby was probably knackered from all the travelling she has been doing and fingers crossed all will be ok.

Day off yesterday so as per a couple of pages ago it's a case of getting Max's new room ready but I'm now at Paintbrush stage having Stripped and sanded the floor so it just needs varnishing (ME), Re-plastered after I stripped the wall paper off (NOT ME), had wardrobes and toy trunk built into various recesses (NOT ME) and now the painting of ceiling and feature coving, picture rails, walls, skirting and then the wardrobes and toy trunk which were fitted by a chippy friend (not Leethefish although I understand he has reasonable rates) before finishing the floor so that's my job list before Xmas and I really need to get it done as there are some decent events I am playing from Boxing day to UKIPT Ediburgh and will post deets in a few days.

Lost £200 last night on Arsenal -1 goal vs Bradford as most on here did and tonight am going to back Bansha Mo in the 8.00 Romford after a text from Barry Neville so if you want a winner just lay that and also am going to do 4 tricasts on the big race at 9.45 doing 3-1-2, 3-2-1, 6-1-2 and 6-2-1 probs £15 TC on each.
