Not that I personally think this as there must be some better places to live in the UK than where I do but Leigh on Sea is "allegedly" the 4th most popular place in the UK to live!

http://m.echo-news.co.uk/news/11842351.Which_Essex_town_has_been_named_fourth_best_place_to_live_in_the_UK_/

Some of the comments are pretty lol worthy but vvv true.

I negotiated a pass out for Genting Lutons decent monthly tournament on Saturday evening and despite not having above average chips for the first 9 levels of the tournament I managed to find a bit of rungood in the last level of the day and moved from 21k at 8/1600 to 98600 by the end of the level which was just under 50 bigs coming back on MOTHERING SUNDAY!

For the past two years I have had a bag of scrabble letters in my drawer at work and had wanted to create something in a frame for Petra from the kids but last year she went to Slovakia around mothers day and the year before I ran out of time so shelved the idea so getting home at 3.30am Sunday morning and still knowing Max would be awake at his standard 6am I knew I had to do this and commenced sticking some of the letters together and trying not to stick my fingers together at the same time and had already bought a frame to mount it in having seen it in a house we were selling a few years ago.

Not being creative and without wanting to lose any MAN points itt I am pretty happy with the result as was the good wife Wink

2 hours later Max was awake and got chance to sign his first mothers day card although I think his letter sizing needs a touch of work...

Then after football training with Max at 9am we went off to one of his pals 4th Birthday parties and a quick bite to eat before the drive back to Luton for day 2 which started really well with me chipping up to 150k without showdown and then I lost AK v AJ for 60k AIPF hitting my King otr to give my oppo a straight and finally expired with set over set to exit (no hard feelings as was never winning the hand) and decided to venture over to the G for their afternoon £50 comp which started well finding KK first hand to win 10k in a pretty fast middle structure before flopping a set of 10's vs a loose villain who flopped the straight and called my cbet with the turn bringing a one card str8 and he checked again so I just gave myself the chance to hit a full house whcih duly appeared on the river and he check raised me all in and I was never in danger of not going deep (in before) with treble average and some good tables although I lost 3/4 of my stack on a protacted final table bubble that went on when I tried to rep the hand the guy behind me had when a flush draw hit the river in a 3 way pot to leave me 30k at 4/8k but span it back up to 250k in about 25 minutes to make the FT as one of the chippies.

The std Luton dbl bubble saver was declined by me and 2 others with 9 on the FT and only 7 paid and I managed to get this stack which was 1/4 the chips in play with 8 left

and really pushed for the win as the payouts were 1360,890,580,420... but lost all the pots vs the shorties as I seemed to be the only player wanting to get involved so doubled 3 of them up when they had 5-8bb's and then lost a 3 way allin for about 3/4 chips in play when villain opened to 32k at 5/10k and the shortie shipped for 75k and I found AKcc in the bb and reshipped putting the opener all in for another 250k who tank called with QQ with the shortie holding 89hh which flopped decidely well on A88dd but we didnt hold on diamond turn and rivers for the main pot as the villain had the to scoop the bigger pot.

I managed to chip back up to 350k 5 handed then lost an annoying pot before 89hh man exited and then stuck the shortie in for 6bbs when I saw a King  bvb but he found AQ somehow in the bb which left me short and the very next hand my 11bbs went in otb with A9drawing thin vs AJ to exit in 4th but a little bit of profit for the time invested over the weekend even though my 40 year old body is a bit shattered from just 5 hours sleep over the weekend.

I also saw an incredible beard this weekend at the G and as a grower myself you do find yourself having cases of "Beard Envy" as you look around the streets these day but check out this beauty!!

Not sure I would still be married if mine got this long!

This week consists of work, GPS Southend and a couple of side events with Tom Langley staying at Chez Kral for a couple of days and hopefully we will agree a few things on the restaurant which continues to roll forwards along with my shared day of sadness as another anniversary passes of both my Dad's and Vinny's Holly who both passed away on the 19th March so my thought will be with my little Maltese brother.

Anyone coming to Southend this week?

YING and YANG

Last Friday saw Ivy's second birthday and she is growing in to an amazing toddler after causing a severe amount of sleep depravation which Max hadnt when he was her age but luckily she seems to have come out of that now and Petra is back getting a full nights sleep Wink

Here she was on the morning of the day she was born along with a few photos over the past 2 years that have flown by...

This time of year is always tinged with an amount of sadness though as my Dad passed away 6 years ago tomorrow and I remember the call as if it were yesterday where they phoned us on the 18th March and told us that dad was not expected to make it through the next 24 hours so myself and Petra shot up the motorway from Essex and were able to spend his final hours with him and my brother even though he was in a morpheine induced coma it still felt he knew we were there and on the 19th March at around midday we were holding his hands as he took his final breath before finally slipping away.

Even though I really hurt him as readers from the start would know it was good that we had rebuilt our relationship in his final year but it is still sad that he never got to see his grandchildren as he would have been a truly great Grandad.

Here he was about 2 years before he was diagnosed as terminal and tomorrow I shall go one of the two places where we scattered his ashes to lay some flowers and spend a few minutes in peace with him and the kids.

RIP Dad - Sadly missed but never ever forgotten!

Beard Envy- I get that even more now I've been shorn of 5 months growth. Although, my Beardbucket raised £460 for charity in the process. Here's the beard in its final moments before shearing.

Heard this place mentioned, nominated for BBC Food and Farming Awards, they're a pop-up restaurant in Cardiff area that looks pretty good based on the reviews and pictures. Certainly looks like a popular concept when done well.

Thanks for that Simon, I had actually already seen Hang Fire upon my early stage of research.

Going to this gaff in York at the weekend for a Stag do.  Not sure if this is similar to your idea or not and whether you want any feedback.  Let me know.

Always good to have feedback on these places mate so give us a good TR with some photos please.

GPS Southend went pretty crap to be honest which is always pretty disappointing on your home leg when you see players who you havent seen in years due to not playing locally now and on sittiing down Thursday I liked my table with one decent local who made the FT and Terry Jordan who obviously loves the game coming in on the back of 16 bullets at Luton's £165 monthly tournie the week before and after 30 mins he had double his chip stack with the other players not knowing how to play him he just chipped up solidly and unfortunately I couldnt find a value hand vs him or anyone else tbh and just bled down a bit before getting a dbl through vs the decent local when 99 held vs AKo for 15bbs and then a few hands later it was GG when we turned the nut straight on 2 spade board and check raised Terry all in but he had flopped a set so wasnt folding and housed up on the river for a standard cooler.

I hung around for a bit and saw an old local boy called Hamish win a big pot in a misread hand where he called Terry's open before calling flop, turn and then the river all in jam to turn over his hand declaring a straight only for the dealer to inform him that he didnt have a straight and just held Ace high which was good hence he came back with well over 100k.

Day 1b didnt go much better although I did peak at just under 40k from 25ss and then after losing a few annoying pots and having to R/f a couple of times ended up getting my last 14bbs in vs eventual champion David L'honore who flipped better than my 1010 with AK and it was GG Southend Sad

That left saturday with a big void in it so I took Max and Ivy swimming then ventured upto Nottingham for their Big game as it looked like there could be an overlay and played the turbo where I fired a second bullet which made the next part with 75k which was plenty as they roll back the blinds to 1200bb and I wasnt planning on reentering unless I bust first level which happened after finding KK in the C/o and opening to 2700 before the shortie otb jammed for 6700 and the BB who had absolute chunks re-jammed well over 100k and I obv snapped him off and fast rolled my hand but the dealer wanted the pots right and started to count my stack with oppo's hand still face down and after well over a minute he brought in the pots and I found I was up against dem Aces and didnt get there.

I entered for £330 and found a decent table with all manor of hands being shown down and was sat with Dazzling Conn Cronin who due to my beard didnt recognise me and it was funny listening to him tell his stories to people Mehtab who despite years around had not met him so we got the full array of stories, moodies and bluffs.  I was having a pretty depressing day on the pokers getting good hands beaten and not flopping well with my other hands and it was just one of those days where you just suck it up and try and hang in there hoping for a spin or that double through to get you back in the game and it looked like it was coming when we got it in our btn vs C/o A10ss v A9o but chopped it on K25 and then down to 10bigs we got it in with 88 vs Q10 after a speculaive utg1 open and didnt hold so just went home.

The thing I love about poker is win or lose when you play as a rec like me is that apart from the drive home which is pretty crap the next morning I have two little smiling faces to greet me and as Sunday was their joint birthday party at the local church hall and 24 of their toddler friends we coming for a mid morning party.

The joy on this little mans face which was evident for the whole hour of the Magicians performance makes it all worthwhile and makes you remember it's just a game.
It is actually his birthday today so he had some presents yesterday and then our ones today

I saw this on Sunday at the local sport shop in Leigh on Sea and wonder if Ireland shirts would have been discounted if England scored another Try?
