Marky147, I don't know you and I hope this isn't too forward. I can tell from a few of your posts you have some health problems of sorts (and there's a lot of posts on this forum to sift through) - can you tell me what ?

Thanks

No worries it's fine, I've had MS for about 4 years.

It wasn't too problematic for a while and it's only the last 6 months it's been causing me huge problems with walking. I've got severe spasticity in my legs which causes me to look like I'm drunk for want of a better description when I walk and I can't really walk around outside at present because of this. I've been allocated to a brain injuries specialist because lesions on brain are classified as such as well as my neurologist now to try and sort it out as it's stopping me going to the gym and going out etc.

There are a couple of non invasive treatments to try and if they don't work then the next option is one of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrathecal_pump

Bit of luck the next couple options will work so I don't have to think about turning into robocop lol.
/derail Cheesy

Thanks, obv really hope the first options on treatments work well for you and you get back to being able to exercise without the intrathecal set up.

Sounds like you deal with everything pretty robustly, which is the only way I guess and means whatever happens you're just gonna get on with it.

Good luck man

Yeah the non invasive options are the nut outcome obviously and bit of luck they will alleviate some if not all. I'd have to go up to london as a patient for a couple weeks so they could lab rat me and manually inject different doses so as to gauge the efficacy of direct injection of the baclofen. If it only offered mild relief I wouldn't be going through the surgery anyway, I'd want to be at least restored to the level of function I had a couple years ago to warrant the procedure in my mind.

In the grand scheme of things it's not that big a deal and I'm still luckier than 90% of people with MS and most people even without I think as far as how good my life is overall. It only effects me so for that I'm thankful and glad that in my family it was me that got it. My brother is married with a kid  etc. and if he had something like this the impact would be much greater so at least we ran semi well in that respect Cheesy

I can still work albeit only because I work from home, I still get to go to on holidays and I can still get about albeit with crutches when outside at present. I also have perks like cheap rail travel, I don't queue at US immigration and get wheeled straight out to the taxis from the airport and several other little coups that I wouldn't get otherwise. It's always best to stay positive, keep the glass half full mindset and not let the issues define you.

Fingers crossed we both run good (or as well as we can) in the health department for the longterm anyway Smiley

You ain't gonna go far wrong that that attitude anyway Mark  thumbs up

Cheers, I hope so too :-) You're spot on with not letting issues define you

Reckon I am on the verge of rescuing a bad week.

Monday: Ate light & healthy, decent gym session.
Tuesday: Ate lots of shit
Wednesday: Drank lots of shit, ate quite rich foods but not a massive amount.
Thursday: Threw up most of the day and didnt eat at all for half of it, but had some crisps and a chinese at the end of the day.
Friday: Ate light and good gym session
Saturday: Ate light, been walking for about 3-4 hours, but going out with mates for a curry tonight (Not drinking, making some lighter choices)

Prediction is I will put maybe 1 or 2 lbs on. I will be happy if thats all it is. Back on the grind from tomorrow.

Wouldn't worry about what you do tonight m8,  just eat whatever you feel like and then get back on the wagon tomorrow.

Smashing home a whatever curry you want, a few beers and enjoying the night out >>>>>>>>>> lighter choices because you had a trip away.

Whatever the scales say tomorrow you're working out enough and eating well enough to drop the weight again in no time at all.

As for shit I've had my sweet tooth on today Cheesy

I am deffo gonna enjoy it tonight, but the thing is, the curry with mates is now the most common of social events now we have all hit our thirties, so I think it will be +EV for me long term to make a couple of sustainable changes there (Boiled rice instead of Pilau, chapattie instead of a naan - is what I am thinking, but not been crazy about chapatis so far).

Chapattis from restaurants aren't great. Home cooked chapattis are really good, but in restaurants I prefer naans.

How about choosing just one? Either the pilau rice or the naan bread. It'll become a more balanced meal in terms of carbs:protein and also you won't be sacrificing taste. Just a suggestion.

Good point, I forgot to mention the rice & chapatti are shared with the missus so I only have half of each

Cheers Lee but I think most people know where they want their dough to go should they have to donate even if they've not decided yet and the way everyone is doing I think there are going to be some very disappointed charities!

They'll prob be getting £100 from me anyway the way I'm going today on the Fruit Pastilles, stick anything not accounted for in the Blonde Update fund or something imo.... That's on life support I think Cheesy

Pretty sure I'm gonna be sending a significant lump somewhere.

Went out last night and got smashed. Lot's of calories are obviously good for putting on weight but terrible for the waist line.

Thursday night I had a huge curry + 5 pints, tonight I'm off out with Hopkin for presumably more of the same.

I'm thinking I may have taken on a bit much here. Need to get serious soon or I've got no chance.

BTW, anyone watching the Biggest Loser? I want to smack that Gerrard in his stupid face, he is the biggest wuss I have ever seen, and they totally screwed over the one member of their team that deserved to be there.

Oh, spoiler alert btw

Gammon and Eggs is perfect if you're trying to keep carbs low and tasty too. Guy I know who does Keto when he cuts has bacon and eggs for breakfast almost every day as it fits his macros  #whatalife
