Just trying to find out what feels best for me. Agree that the shakes are very convenient and easy to follow. Ketosis is defo the way forward. Once my shakes run out (just over a week) I will try upping my carbs eating real food but staying in ketosis. See what happens.

I am a bit hungry tbh, tempted to take a bite out of the couch..

If you are deeply in ketosis, you shouldn't be feeling any hunger at all.  You might be feeling thirsty, you might miss chewing on something, but you shouldn't be hungry.

Also, apologies if you know all this, (but from your post, I don't think you do) ~ upping your carbs will take you out of ketosis pronto.  When you go into ketosis, the first thing your body does is take about 7 lbs of glycogen out of your liver.  Thereafter, it starts to take fat for energy.  When you start eating again, the first thing your body does is store ~ 7lbs of glycogen back into your liver.  Ketosis diets are therefore pointless in the short term.

You can go many days and perhaps even weeks without eating at all. So if Milligan wants them extreme max gains he needs to just sip water and remain motionless. This 500cals per day seems a bit greedy really and we should consider cutting that second shake.

Really surprised at the all round belief that what I am doing is that unhealthy, especially when i read about so many people doing it.

in general the people who are doing it have no idea what constitutes a healthy diet. that's why they are morbidly obese and resorting to undertake a ridic diet regime. lots of people doing something they have no understanding of is a pretty poor reason to follow

I have discovered recently that there are lots of people who think 40+40x0+1=1 but I'm sure as hell not going to take maths lessons from them

Not the best day for me.

Had to take a guess at the dinner intake because it was a meal out at the pub. There was a couple of lagers in there as well.

Days totals:

3800 calories
238g protein
330g carbs
94g fat

On days like today I can only estimate figures. It's obviously not a major problem given that my goal is to gain a bit of weight.

If I was being super strict I just wouldn't eat out because you can never know exactly what you're eating.

Protein is pretty low today. Again it's not a huge problem because today is a non training day.

Diet 25/01/12

2x Pitta
500g Chicken
50ml Worcester Sauce
2x Protein Cookies
1/2 Pro 50

Protein 225g
Carbs   120g
Fats      42.5g

Cals 1757

Was absolutely starving when I finished work so had another protein cookie before bed and am gonna bash a chilli up tomorrow I think for a change from Chicken. Going to hunt out some more recipes as well for the coming weeks so I can mix it up most nights and not get bored which in turn leads to Dominos Cheesy

Just an aside Milligan as you said you're struggling with time for exercise, I know the feeling.

But could you not buy a couple of kettlbells to swing around while watching TV at night?

Cheap and easy, works for me  Smiley

Yea probs not a bad idea tbh. I normally a fit a good hour or so of tv in everynight so no reason why i couldn't kill 2 birds with one stone. Although not sure the wife would appreciate me sweating all over the tv and rug..
I have a pretty decent gym in my garage tbh, cross trainer, rower, resistance bands, pull up bar, mats, tv for exercise vids, them twisty things for press ups, dartboard.. the hard bit is getting in from work, getting changed and going to the garage instead of the front room. Only time up until before we started this thread I had gone in there was when the missus was catching up on soaps or i needed somewhere to put the xmas beers.
Was going to get a punching bag for it as well, but that would probs just mean i had more good stuff in it which i didn't use. The bit i need to work on is establishing a routine where it becomes the norm.
