Ok I think we need a short term incentive to give us a kick up the arse.

I propose that if by NEXT sunday we are not below (not same, below) the weight we posted LAST week we give a one off payment of £50 to charity.

I'll do it if you guys do?

I was 16st 8lbs last week, I don't know what I am now but I've deffo put on this week.

After my bad week last week I have set a challenge up with someone at work who is looking to lose some weight where we both have a set amount of weight to lose each week and if we fail there are some pre set forfits that will help with lossing weight for each week we don't hit targets i.e. 10k bike ride or 10k on an exercise bike (this would be on top of the normal exercise done).

Just trying to do stuff that will keep me motivated and hoping this will help.

@Matt. Practice without the rope? do you mean get the timing of the jump down then add in the rope?

if you're hitting your shins then no matter how good your timing you're never going to be able to jump the rope, it's far too high. need to work on getting the rope to swing through at ground level first surely?

I bought a skipping rope. I am complete shit. I thought I would look like a boxer in training.. I actually look like James Corden doing that double footed dance thing. Good workout though. Gonna youtube the proper technique as i keep hitting my shins, want to do it so my feet barely leave the floor like the pros.

Practice without the rope. Just do one foot at a time. That should help get you started.

Def just practice and technique

Try link a hop kick with alternate legs and it just becomes  like a routine, then its just about rope timing

Not sure how you mean? I can do it in a weird sort of forward gallop, one foot at a time. Reckon it will take a fair old time to get it down, but i wanna be able to do it.

I mean practice not jumping too high. That's surprisingly difficult.

Trying to learn that whilst trying to learn the timing as well is really tough.

It's doable obviously but far from easy.

I have been watching vids and reading and I am starting to think I need a longer rope tbh, I can get a longer one and wrap it round my hands, my one know I have to hold the very bottom of the handles and jump far too high to do it. When I watch vids they keep their wrists at the same level but I find myself moving my hands up and down to get it over and under. Only a few quid online so might try a couple. Think it will be the nuts to be able to do well. For the fatties I would highly rexommend it. Get a decent mat to lower the impact. It's fun and gets the heart rate up.
