Worked out today for the first time in months. I haven't had gym membership for a year now, so using weights that I have at home.
Just done a short session with very light weights, gotta get the body adjusted to exercise again.

As well as losing a stone and a half i'm gonna try and pile some muscle on. This is obv  harder than just losing weight, but is a way of training that i'm used to.

Pulse is redic high for me atm, around 75bpm. My healthy or fit rate is anything under 60 so want to sort that asap.

Got all the salad stuff in today, and just about to order a load of meat from westingourmet
Whenever I've lost weight, I've done it weight training. Obviously, I've put some muscle on but I've got in a couple of notches on the belt and I had an initial drop in weight.
Weights burn a lot more calories than people think.

Yep, always works for me. Obv having lifted plenty in the past it comes back quicker, but this is offset with the DOMS getting worse with age, hence the slow start

I'm still on the health kick - sort of. I try to exercise more & eat a little better & it's going well.

Don't want to chirp too much but at my lowest weight since starting on the original thread.

Yup. Listen to Uncle Sov.

This thread has aided lots of folks to shed stones.

Just keep at it, no matter how many times you think you have failed, the important thing is to try.

Imagine how proud you will be when you get there. That is the great thing - the sense of achievement.

2 stone lol, that's a good effort in 4 months  Grin

Unbelievably bad.

I enjoyed it though.

Now the diet starts, & the weird thing is I'll enjoy that even more, I really will. The sense of achievement is immense, matched only by my shame that I piled it back on so fast. It was always so, my entire life.

Once I get my head right, the diet will be easy, a perfect pleasure. Starting is the tough part. If I can get from today through to Friday, that'll be it, I can guarantee that 24lb loss in three months. If I don't, I'm in trouble.

Really, I should leave starting it until Sunday, which will be the 1st of September. Makes it easier to work in whole months. There, an excuse already....

Hence coming back onto this thread, which I hope will force me to do it.

You now weigh more than me. Just saying.

Not any more. Have shed 5lbs since I started, and will be under 13 stone by the end of September. Guaranteed.

Just saying.

Weighed in at 14st 8 3/4lb, which is about a 2 1/2lb loss after about 9 days. Aiming to smash a 6lb loss in total by the first week in October.

Happy enough, I have been careful with what I eat and have really enjoyed the gym so far. Also been taking the dog on longer walks.

Haven't restricted myself food wise or eaten anything I didn't want to eat. I have a weekend away in London which will be a bit of a test, however part of that will involve running around shooting paint at people so at least there will be some exercise.

I'm trying to change my habits, otherwise this weight will just come back. Currently trying to eat slower by putting my fork down on the plate with every mouthful. Inspired by this video which is really worth the hour investment:

And just so I have even more accountability, here are my starting stats from yesterday:

Weight - 94kg (I'm 5ft 10" btw)

Stomach  - 43.5"

Belt line 43.5"

Chest 44"

Body fat - 20.3% - 21.8%

The aim is to lose 6lbs and three inches (combined across the three measurements in any order) by October 7th.

Reporting in, after the first 6 days.

My main problem with dieting is getting started, getting my head in the right place, but I think I'm OK now, & have settled into it.

If I'm in the groove, I don't get tempted by the "bad" food I usually crave, I just get on with dieting. And that's how I've been, just got on with it, no regrets, no cheating, not been tempted to veer off the path.

Have been eating probably as much volume as before, but ONLY good stuff.

I've only ever, in my whole life, eaten one meal a day, & that continues.

It's an occasion now though. I take time out to spend some time prepping it properly, set the table, napkin, knife & fork, everything, like a posh person. Every mouthful is savoured, & I eat much more slowly than normally.

Main Meal most nights has been a huge, fresh, cod loin. Quite expensive, about £7, but worth it. With it I have half a tin of Tesco's finest tinned toms, some radiated fresh mushrooms, & an Oxo cube for added bite & attitude. Completely fills a huge dinner plate, but barely 500 calories. Sometimes I have a poached egg or two with it. Home made poached eggs, if you don't mind, cook them myself.

Afters? You bet. I have the biggest bowl of fresh fruit you could imagine. Pineapple, grapes, strawberries & a sliced banana, oooh. Then a Lo Fat Yogi.

Perfect, it fills me to bloated.

Have lost 6lbs since I began, last Tuesday, was 14-3, am now 13-11. Pretty pleased with that, but it's about right considering how much excess flab I was carrying. I would expect a 3 or 4lb loss this week, then it'll settle down to the usual 2lbs per week. 12-7 my sometime in October, no problem.

My clothes are a tad less tight now, too.

Rennie & NurOfen intake not eradicated, but vastly reduced.

Drnking tons of sparkling water.

Sleeping better, but very tired all the time.

All good so far then.

This coming week will be a test, as I'm incredibly busy, with a ton of driving, & long days, then all weekend in Newcastle for the SPT. 2 x 16 hour days in a Casino is the nut worst thing, as Casino food is no good to me when dieting, but I'll manage without, & revert, for the weekend, to a decent, proper breakfast both days.

Failure? Forget it, ain't gonna happen.

You do hugely reduced calorie intake, (starvation rations long term) and then binge outrageously. Both diets put your body under huge stress.

Ever thought of just eating sensibly?

sensible?

You know me better Tom.

Really, I can't help myself, & don't feel the need. I LIKE sticky buns, & bread with oodles of butter on.

I'm not convinced that my weight fluctuations are harmful to my health, either. I've been the same for 30 or 40 years, EVERY year, & I've still not had a day off work with sickness in my entire life.

Don't eat greens or salad either, which the Health Freaks will tell you are obligitary. They are not.

I'm still full of energy, relative to my age, too.

Luckily, I don't smoke or drink alcohol.

I AM grateful for your intent, thank you, but this "puts stress on your body" stuff I don't really buy.

The one fear I have is getting obese because I cba to diet any more. I'd be 16 or 17 stone within a few months. Now that WOULD be unhealthy. Proper unhealthy.
