Ok, legggggggggggggo!

Found my old Michael Elias excel calculator, so have whacked my details in that, and come out with some numbers that I'll roughly aim for.

I've gone for a 50/25/25 split, which comes out with a BMR of 2298 @ 35 years old and 5ft 9.

I'm only going to be gymbound 4x a week, but other than that I don't really do a lot, so going to stick at a sedentary calculation of 1.2 BMR (2758)

Trying to lose 2lbs a week, so I'll go with 1758 cals. which to the nearest whole number is 220g protein, 110g carbs, and 49g fat.

I might get brave and post the 'before' picture that got me trimming down and then back to the gym.

Maybe when the transformation is complete and I have an 'after' picture to go with it........

That's something along the lines of my thoughts Cheesy
Good luck with it Mark, as you can see thread is pretty bare for posts nowadays

Guess I ought to re-enrol to this thread, as I'm a bona-fide fattie now.

I'm mindful of Zero's "set a target what & when", &, sadly, less mindful of Lord Russell's "crash dieting is no good". It's all or nothing with me, can't help it.

So here's the deal.

I'm 68, & have a giant pot belly, due to gorging on lattes, sticky buns, thickly buttered bread & toast, & all the bad things in life which are so lovely.  And I never did ANY exercise, none whatsoever.

I became unwell, out of puff all the time, so the moment came when I needed to do something. That was January 16th, & I weighed in at a monsta 14st 13lbs. (I'm around 5'-9" & thick set).

Since then, I've walked 2 miles every single weekday, & 4 miles every Saturday & Sunday.

Diet?

Lattes - OUT. Zero. It was previously 2 per day, minimum, sometimes 3 or 4. Instead, I drink 4 cups of tea per day, & as much sparkling water (with fresh lemon squeezed into it) as I can manage.

Food:

2pm, 4 Ryvitas, with Philly low fat cheese & best, fresh sliced organic toms, washed down with a Diet Cup-A-Soup. (diet Cup-a-Soups are essentially watered down water).

10pm - 2 chicken breasts, a tin of garden peas & a half tin of tomatoes, laced with oodles of Worcester Sauce.

That's followed by a big bowl of grapes, and then, as my treat, a Matzo Cracker with wafer thin cheddar cheese slices.  (Matzo's are Jewish & "unleavened"). A single Matzo is 111calories.

Starting weight, Jan 16th - 14st-3lbs

Current weight - 13st-9lbs

None of the factors vary, it's the same every single day.

It'll continue until May 31st, after which all bets are off.

Target weight? Lowest possible, but I can't do more than I am doing. Upper 12's would be nice.

Not sure "svelte" & 13st 9lbs go together too well.

Be good to see you though. I think Tal Bloke is gonna pop along on Saturday, too, though I'll be a bit busy, as all the Really Very Serious Suits will be there, too. Don't want them thinking Tighty does all the work, do we?

It's entirely possible there may be a connection, yes.

You may be assured that if I do get to Vegas - & I very much hope to - as far as dieting are concerned, Zero Five or Evil Pie notwithstanding, all diet bets are well & truly off.

I'm hoping to be back around 100kg by then, and all bets will be off for the month I'm there Cheesy

Well done Tony. Great result. I bet you would miss the walking if you stopped now.

BTW- Something just occurred to me. You have never been in 'maintenance mode' have you? You're great at losing wight and your great at putting it on, but what are you like at just maintaining your goal weight?

Will we ever find out? Tune in next year...

Seriously, maintenance, that's the bit I struggle with.

Nope, can't do the "maintenance" thing (as in sensible).

I pile it on, lose it, pile it on, lose it, but I just can't find any middle ground.

Been the same for 40 years or more now, up down, up down. One day I'll learn....

I do enjoy the walking, yes, quite surprising, as I've never ever walked as a form of exercise before, in fact I've never walked anywhere.

Congrats Teeks, decent effort there.

How much healthier do you feel? Do you do any monitoring of your physical health i.e. pulse rate/BP?

Thanks.

I feel infinitely better, yes, physically and mentally. Not had a Rennie since the diet started, I was getting through a dozen a day before.

Pulse rate, BP, no, never had any of those checked or monitored, I don't even have a GP, and never have since I was a child.

The weird thing is I find dieting very enjoyable and satisfying. Meals are now a delight, both to look forward to, and relish when I eat them. I eat much more slowly, savouring every mouthful. It's not that I starve myself, I have a Ryvita snack early afternoon, then a huge dinner late evening, followed by a big bowl of grapes, then Matzot and cheese.

I never cheat when dieting, either, that would do my head in to think I have given back what I have saved, do to speak. Guess I'm obsessive with these things.

Course, in a few months time, I'll go back to sticky buns, pork pies, latte etc. I start off sensible, moderation etc, then just let myself go. Ridiculous really, and the daft thing us, I know it is ridiculous, but I can't seem to help myself.

I would pay big money to be able to go two months like you .  I totally get your swings.  My swings are two weeks on two week off! Two months are just impossible to imagine that commitment,  vwp.  Hope the walking changes your long term approach, having a missus who runs surely must help your long term focus?
