Im not staying at the statosphere its a hilton thats like closer to main strip then there but just thought id say stratesphere to give some indication

hmmmm its gonna be loads cheaper for me in these wierd and wonderful hotels but i also would like to return from this trip!

Trouble with the Hilton is it is further off strip than you think in terms of walking, wouldn't fancy walking around there at night

pro tip

dont plan on walking ANYWHERE in vegas.

def chance of getting lost and having no water and dying just trying to locate your car in some car parks let alone go from a to b.

Easiest way to spot a Vegas first timer:

"We'll walk. It's only over there"

walking inbetween places inside casinos turns into such an awful idea alot of the time.

"oh I can see it, it's just there, we'll walk..... 4 weeks later......... have we left casino property yet?!?"

lol honestly, shaddap and just listen to the sage advice.

it's not safe to walk anywhere in vegas. because of dodgyness/dodgy people you say?? no that wont be the first thing to get you

the heat, the distance, trying to cross a 4000 lane road of vehicles with no brakes or ability to turn or drive with any skill.........

ya if you are on the strip and want to go between hotels, it's a cab UNLESS you're on the extremity of one casino plot and want to go to the absolute nearest square centimeter of the next plot. if not it's cabs.

if you're off strip LOL at walking, it's cabs (which are the most stupid hassle to book as you CAN NEVER book in advance and which you are not allowed to hail in the street) or a hire car.

hire car ftw

I was in my room in Aria and looked out at the Venetian. I was playing a comp there at 3. I set out at 2.30. Plenty of time.

It's only over there.

Through Vdara and into Bellagio.

2:40, I am nearly out of Bellagio.

I'd better get a wriggle on.

Stuck at the lights to cross the strip. 120 degrees.

Past Harrahs and all those places you wouldn't want to stay in...

Right. At Venetian for 2.55. Good.

Oh, hang on. It's at Palazzo while they do the card room up. 3.10, arrive.

It's just TOO BLOOMING BIG!!!

Walking is good, though. Just don't do it when you need to be somewhere!

Last time i just hired a cab when i was in a rush, shuttle when i was not in a rush but couldnt be bothered walking, but most of the time my mentality is im on my holiday im not in a rush ill do things at my pace!

I did Venetian to Aria most days or visa versa, it was normally after a beat and the time it took to walk there get some food and sit back down again the head was clear! And i had a bead on!

Im happy getting cabs, i think although im not sure it will be cheaper then getting a hire car? Can any ages get a hire car? Im 23 and i know in spain they wont let me until im 25, although i can be a named driver ?!?!

There are 2 buses that you can catch on the Strip that go Downtown - the Deuce (double decker & stops at EVERY stop) and the SDX (gold single decker that only stops at limited stops).  The double decker Deuce buses run 24 hours per day, but they stop at every stop and therefore it takes ages to get Downtown (45 mins approx).  The SDX only runs from 9am to 12.30am and stops at limited stops but only takes about 20 mins from the Strip to Downtown.

You can catch the SDX from the stop outside the Wynn and also outside the Paris (obviously the Wynn is the closest to Treasure Island).  Coming back from Downtown you can catch both buses just along from the huge pelican crossing at the bottom of Freemont Street and when the SDX reaches the Strip you can get off at the Fashion Show Mall (opposite the Wynn) and at the stop between Bellagio and Cosmopolitan.

$6 for a 2 hour ticket and $8 for a 24 hour ticket, or you can get a 3 day or 7 day pass.  You need to purchase a ticket at the bus stop before you get on the bus.  The ticket machines all accept cash (notes) and some accept credit cards.  I think there's a ticket machine outside the Wynn, but if there isn't there is definitely one opposite at the Fashion Show Mall bus stop.

More details here....

Many thanks for this.

Hopefully I won't be rushing around anywhere as it is meant to be a holiday and not a total grind. So the SDX sounds like its worth a try if anything to use it as a mini sight seeing bus.
