Personally, I'd rather slam my cock in the door every hour than stay there.

Help please

Is my ESTA from last year still valid for this year?

I am blaming Mrs Typhoon for the next question

Did we get issued with any paper work or is it stored electronically?

Slightly embarrassed to ask these questions but its all her fault!!!

When I went to Boston / cape cod / Connecticut last September my esta wouldn't up date so I printed the page and forgot to try again
I got stopped and because I had a printed detail of my failed esta
They allowed me in otherwise they wouldn't have - he told me I would have been going back
There's no negotiating with them ,treat it seriously - they do , there's no joking with border security
 update your esta
Declare any $over 10 k - there's no problem it's just a form to fill in

Thoughts on buying dollars? Now or nearer the time?

Went a little in our favour today, but not sure what the forecast is after the election etc.

HSBC Quarter 2 forecast is 1.46

I would be tempted to buy sooner rather than later as there will be a wobble around the election outcome.
I believe the wobble is expected to be down with the uncertainty around a Labour coalition and then it will take the rest of the year to get back to 1.5.

Obviously bank dependent though.

A lot of the Vegas double or triple centre holidays I've seen tend to include 1/2 of New York, LA or San Fran. I don't recall ever seeing Florida as an option, though I'm sure it can be done, you just might have to go through a specialist travel agent.

Depending on your budget, I'd be more inclined to book the different components separately. Numerous options for this; could get a standard return flight to Florida and look for a cheap domestic return to Vegas. An open jaw flight might be better, flying into Florida, out of LV, and again look for a cheap one way internal flight. Ebookers.com are pretty good for multi stop flights if you wanted it all on one ticket.

If keeping the cost down is the most important aspect, you can sometimes find 2 week jollys to Florida for £500pp or less. Snag one of those, and then source an internal return flight for the Vegas leg. There are directs from Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

You don't need to pay that much for the internal flight.  I just checked South west airlines and they are about $250 one way from Tampa or Orlando to Vegas.  I don't know if they are cheapest but they are like a much more pleasant US version of Ryanair. In fact, they are only like Ryanair in that they are cheap.  Everything else is probably much better.

I've done exactly this, booked it all separately as could get such cracking deals on upper class to a mainly non business destination like Tampa

Have had a call from lowcostusa today. They're offering shared transfers (meaning coach transfers) from the airport to your hotel for £20 return.

I'm quite tempted by that. Standing in a queue for half an hour for a taxi is a ballache and that's a touch less than half the cab fare, if memory serves. Also has the benefit of a defined price.

Seem to be doing deals on the helicopter trips, too.

Obv, only applies to those of us who don't get the "Balla Limo picking us up because we have noir cards" treatment.
