Am booking my first trip to Vegas over the Christmas period (for April) so if anyone spots any good deals please post

Let us know the exact dates you're looking for again mate, and I'll work out the best options direct/package etc. over the weekend.

Blisteringly hot in August.  If your family are all adult, that;s one thing, but I would think about going at a different time of year if you have young children.  You won't be able to go outside for very long at all.

Also for poker, August is the quietest time of the year, WSOP has finished and I'm not sure that there are any other festivals on.  Regular $100-ish daily mtts and ubiquitous low stakes cash games to choose from.

Whenever you do decide to go, Virgin are fine and booking now is also fine, altho there was discussion on that earlier in this thread.

Never stayed at bellagio but I would say no. Ph was pretty decent and deffo a decent 2nd tier hotel IMO, plus the scenery on the casino floor is pretty good. It is a pretty young crowd there though.

If it was the first trip to Vegas, with the mrs, I would say it is worth splashing out.

Yes IMO I been both 4 times and would not go in planet Hollywood again ,bellagio pool area alone is worth it , buffet much nicer , if you're taking the wife in planet Hollywood you get hassled by hookers in the bar area/ on way to toilets , I've never had that in bellagio lee it's nicer IMO bellagio or aria are worth any extra
