heart beated a bit faster there Aaron with that shot in the 91st minute? Smiley

well done sir

At 80 minutes I started to search for a stream, but could not find anything but nonsense, so missed the last minute shock, so all my hair still in place!

I only opened my Stan James account yesterday though & I expect it to be closed today Cheesy

I was looking at the season handicaps after the recent discussion and bet victor seem way out of line for an ew punt on wba..

they have WBA + 36 at 28/1 ( 29/1 when i took it yesterday ) whereas 365 have them at 15/1

over the past 10 years average points for 4th place in the premiership is 68.4....with a high of 76... WBA in the 3 seasons they have been back have averaged 47.6..

They are a good solid team with a good manager in Clarke..have brought in Anelka and Vydra ( who i really like ) up front where they tended to lack..assuming they would, worst case scenario , have to get 77 at the most to finish 4th they would only need to gain 41 points... more likely 71 will do it meaning 35 will get them home..

I say this not that i think the handicap will place them as winners but reaching top 4 seems very realistic with that handicap at 28/1 effectively giving us a 7/1 shot? seems a value bet ? thoughts....

No feedback on this?

they got 49 points last season

Minus Lukaku and his 17 goals and add Anelka and Vydra as I was posting about yesterday

They have spent no money this offseason and Swansea, West Ham, Norwich etc all spent £20m+.

Thats no guarantee that WBA will be worse this campaign but I think the middle reaches of the premier League will be more competitive

Personally I see them falling back a bit. Anyway lets give them 50 points to be optimistic, plus the 36 point handicap gives them 86 which isn't a top 4 finish on the handicap, in past seasons

That said, BetVictor have a lot of handicap prices minus any overround and 28/1 is certainly a striking price if you were more bullish on them than I am

Tighty..am i missing something..best 4th place points in the last 10 years is 76..? or do you have to add on the 4th place teams handicap to?

Hi guys,

Not sure if I am missing something here but Man U are evens to beat Swansea at Bet Vic, that seems like value to me especially as all other bookies are odds on ( marginally)

According to oddschecker: Swansea ended a run of six successive opening day defeats with a 5-0 win at Queens Park Rangers last season.
Man Utd have taken 10 points from their four Barclays Premier League encounters against Swansea.
Man Utd’s last three Premier League away games have ended as draws, despite them scoring eight goals in that spell.
Michu has scored in both of his two previous appearances against Manchester United. The Spaniard is one of only four players to have played against the Red Devils more than once in the Premier League and still average a goal a game or better (Paul Mason, Mario Balotelli, Romelu Lukaku).
Michu also netted a league-high six headed goals last season.
Manchester United have lost just two of their last 17 opening league fixtures, though one of those was last year at Everton.
Only Chelsea (44) have won more points from their opening games than Man Utd (43) in the Premier League era.
Man Utd hit the woodwork 24 times last season, more than any other side.
Manchester United came from behind to claim 29 points in the Premier League last season. Only Newcastle in 2001-02 (34) have claimed more.
The Red Devils had 20 different goal scorers in 2012-13, a record spread in a single Premier League season.

If it gets approved I recommend £25 Man utd to win with Bet Vic.

BET DISCUSSION

CRYSTAL PALACE to finish bottom at 13/5 Coral

Biggest price by a fair way in the market.

Squad basically struggled towards end of last season.

Could easily argue it is a bit weaker if anything than last season.

Cardiff and to a lesser extent Hull seem more likely to spend than Palace do.

I very rarely bet in the premiership but this stood out a bit to me?

Thanks horsey, I got on this earlier today, but I've been pre-occupied since with my runner beans.

We have £50 @ 13/5, Coral, Crystal Palace to finish bottom of the Premier League.

To Win

£ 50.00

Crystal Palace - Finish Bottom - Premier League Finish Bottom 2013/14 @ 13/5

£ 0.00

Wouldn't have suggested this myself as I have a great feeling we are staying up.

Darren Bent is very likely to be signing for us soon too, if that means anything.

Man Utd are bigger than evs on Betfair.

Very nice to see you here Omm and I hate to go against a first recommend especially from one with pancreatitis (had that, no fun).

However...we are going to have a long and very hard season if we try to win betting on Prem League soccer by simply looking at stuff like record vs that team, last ten away games, how many home goals this mob score etc etc etc.

I quite like the opening day stuff as that is a bit different, I'll give you that, but most of the facts that you've mentioned are in the public domain and many, many Chinese, Korean, Hong Kong, Singapore fellas have mulled them over and then Tony and Matthew have had a couple of bets and now we have this price.

 It's all in the market.

What are we seeing that nobody else can see?

If your answer is the opening day stuff then was that the reason Man Utd won all those games? (because it was the opening day?) or was it possibly because they are often the favourite in all matches they play and favourites often win?

Anyway, I like the stats you've come out with but I'd prefer to lay evens than back them at evens and I can't really see that people are gonna miss too much that is in the public domain given they've had weeks to think about these fixtures.

None of that means I won't have a bet. It's possible the lines may be skewed and they may be designed to split the handle and not the result...

Very well played to Aaron and Joe (hope you had £100 on!!!).

Remind me why Aaron isn't an instant-bet guy...

Hi Neil,

Always willing to listen to others, some good points made, I'll happily retract the recommend and wait for another opportunity.

Northern Ireland winning 2-0 at home to Russia, playing well according to what I am reading, with a good record at home. I think Fred is going to miss, but they are at EVS....
