Very well played to Aaron and Joe (hope you had £100 on!!!).

Remind me why Aaron isn't an instant-bet guy...

It's only well played Aaron. I was just following a good spot for small.

I would have said that earlier but only just back from the pub.

I wish it had been £100  Neil Roll Eyes but I did still win about £1000 on the match thank you to Aaron. If you see me in a casino beers are on me Sir.

Only?! Ha. You have won more than me, I was only on for £5 on each.

Interesting enough Stan James have accepted a few more bets & I've withdrawn, not even a problem, weird.

May we have an NFL Glossary for Fred, please? I'm good with most terms after a few years watching the game, but what in the name of Bill Bellicheck is a dump off?

The QB receives the ball from the snap, he tries to look downfield for a receiver, going through his options

a series of options 1st choice to x, 2nd choice throw it to y etc

All of these players are covered, or the throws are not available, so he dumps the ball off to a running back/TE/Full back, normally a lateral throw in the back field, as a last resort to try and get some yardage on the play

p.s C J Spiller is going to have a great season and EJ Manuel improved a lot as the game went on. I did the game for my notes earlier this week

Oooh I love a bit of a reason for optimism early doors. We started well last season, making actual interceptions and everything. Soon got found out Sad

Think we will finish third this season. See, you've got me started. That counts as optimism when you're a Bills fan!

Having fivers on 66/1 shots won't get your acct closed.

Having £40 on a 3/1 horse which is trading 3.65 on betfair will do though.

Bills seem likely to be starting their new rookie QB, EJ Manuel (ees no from Barcelona, before you ask). He had a good game on paper in pre-season the other day, but I think he was flattered by the numbers.

The Bleacher Report is barely even English:

A rookie quarterback generally isn't expected to be able to throw the entire route tree (unless his name is Andrew Luck), but Manuel didn't even throw half of it.

Most of his throws were on slant routes, curl routes and dump-offs. None of his passes traveled more than 17 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.

Here are the routes (let us not forget, pronounced like you're routing a piece of pine):

In short, we'll be competitive but not good enough. Dolphins seem to my ice cream eyes to be the only genuine contenders for the division, or it'll be a procession for the Pats.

Are there better divisions for value bets, tho?

I saw bit of EJ Manuel in college when he was at Florida State and nearly fell off my chair when he was picked in the 1st round. I would rather have Matt Barkely he was picked in the 4th round by the Eagles.

Really unsure about the Dolphins but given I expect the Bills and Jets to be very mediocre the value after the Pats has to be us.

It seems as though Brady will probably be okay but, meh, you have to do these things very quickly and at worst we have small the worst of it.

Re-Stan James I has an account for ages bet pretty big and lost smallish. In 2009 I had £1kew our own dog in a comp that won at 9/2 and In 2010 I had £1kew Phil Mickleson for masters. Account done after that so rang up and asked why and the trader said close because was up x amount due to Nebuchadnezzar the horse winning (our dog) and Mickleson winning the ryder cup lol. Basically they are completely clueless and it's bad cos anyone who remembers 2000-2004 knows Stan james were the first tax free offshore telephone betting firm who bet inrunning on everything via teletext!!!

No doubt Stan James are a paceless waste of time now but I can't be too harsh on them.  When they first opened in Gib I was living there and working for VC.  I desperately wanted an account but for some reason I didn't have a debit card so I called them up and told them I was an investment banker in Marbella on holiday and could I pop in with some cash to open an account.  So I went down there with £2k cash and was the 9th account they opened and Pete Fisher and the Trading Director Rob Pender were literally the only ones in the office and opened the account in person.  For the next two years I saw them out in Gib every other night and I must have won 25k on the account betting £100 or so a go and they saw me eating with Victor etc so they knew exactly who I was and I was betting every warm horse going with them.  They would cut me and knock me back occasionally but they always treated me fairly.  For some reason I stopped using the account and when I opened a new one after that I got the same treatment as everyone else but for a while they were very fair especially given they saw through my white lie within about 3 days of opening the account!!!

How Dubai isn't in Omm's top five is an absolute travesty.

Sigh, Gina mahoosively on the drift for BB, now out to around 6/1, which is almost the price at which we backed her.

She's been the victim of some harsh edits and it looks like Channel 5 will get the boring winner they obviously want. Sam, the main cover bet, is now around 4/6.

I've mentally written off Gina and started to accept this will just be a break-even series. Can't win'em all. Five days left, though, so never say never.

No regrets here Stu. I need to try & be less dithery in these spots, & find those extra edges you mentioned the other day. If that means we occassionally leave a bit of money behind, too bad.

German 'keeper Manuel Neuer jumped up in the line before the anthems last night as a bit of a stretch.

Daily Report

Profit on Month £720.58

Outstanding Bets £3137.62

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc#gid=28

A loss of £5 yesterday as Rickie Lambert's each way return as England goalscorer was offset by Wayne Rooney not scoring in what was one of the better International friendlies you will see

In more important fare, a fantastic win for Northern Ireland over Russia in World Cup Qualifying

In baseball, the Rays snapped a six game slide by winning in the 9th whilst the Red Sox lost in the 10th. This closes up the AL East

East                            W    L    Pct         GB    Home    Road    Last 10    Streak
Boston Red Sox    72    50    .590    --    39-21    33-29    5-5    Lost 1
Tampa Bay Rays    67    51    .568    3    38-22    29-29    3-7    Won 1

In the Central the Royals lost and the Tigers won again, so our outside hopes of a run to the line by the Royals took a hit. An organisation called Baseball Prospectus gives probabilities on each team to hit the play offs daily and currently estimates that the Royals have a 7.6% chance of achieving this

In Japan Luis Suarez denies he said he wants to stay at Liverpool, which might make him the first footballer in history to deny he had pledged loyalty to his current club

Finally a busy day of placing forward bets took the book to a new high, over £3,100
