So far on the NFL Season bets the scores on the doors are

6 bets have completed, £575 was wagered and £986 has been returned

The play off line up has now been decided, and two bets are outstanding

- Cincinnati Bengals to win the AFC £50 at 16-1

- Philadelphia Eagles to win the Superbowl £20 at 50-1

We are therefore assured of profitability from this sub-set of 8 season bets

The play off line ups are as follows

AFC

Kansas City at Indianapolis

San Diego at Cincinnati

Byes: New England and Denver

The Bengals beat the Ravens last night to go undefeated in the regular season at home. They missed out on a bye because the Patriots beat the Bills.

Unfortunately for us, as I think San Diego is probably the worst opponent for the play-off wildcard candidates, the Cheifs rested 20 of 22 starters and San Diego beat them narrowly to pip Pittsburgh to the sixth seed

So the wild card round is this weekend and if Cincinnati win on Sunday (6pm on SS) they face a trip to New England.

Tough, but not impossible as the Bengals have a talented roster on both sides of the ball. As identified five months ago though, the big question will be how QB Andy Dalton performs on the road when it really matters.

The Bengals are currently third favourites behind Denver and New England

NFC

Philadephia beat Dallas 24-22 to hit the post season

New Orleans at Philadephia

49ers at Packers

Byes: Carolina, Seattle

The Eagles have caught a break here, as the Saints are far less effective a team outside a dome, as their record shows. I think the Eagles will beat the Saints. The 49ers/Packers will be a superb game as Rodgers is fit again and the 49ers are right back in form with their offensive weapons fit again

Anyway, if Philly do win on late Saturday they go to Carolina and avoid the away team graveyard of Seattle. Again, by getting the number 3 seed they caught a break

Odds would have us believe that Denver will play Seattle in the Superbowl. I am resolute in thinking that this will NOT be the case

The play offs are all about who gets hot in January

I could make a good case for San Diego in the AFC, and Philly or the Packers in the NFC to make the Superbowl. All three very dangerous teams.

The prices of these three to win it? 50-1, 20-1, 22-1 in a twelve horse field and all are available at 1/3 each way

Much to comment on there, Rich, but I need to go offline, so it'll have to wait.

For now, how much would you suggest on those Superbowl Banzais? We are on Philly already, but win only, I think?

We do have some NFL profits in our pocket already, with 2 existing live Superbowl contenders too, in Philly & Cincin.

Superbowl Banzais

It seems that BetFred have hit me with the Restriction stick, & will only permit me modest sums on those three Teams.

Ahh yes, so you did.

Anyway, go away, you should be hiding from Phoebe.

PS - An NFL chap scored a TD thing yesterday by just picking up the ball, which was laying on the ground, & he just strolled over the line, & scored, nobody even tried to stop him. No idea what that was about.

Yeovil v Watford

Yeovil 3/1 to beat Watford on NYD & using some very simple stuff here, but Yeovil hammered Watford in the same fixture a few weeks ago, shows they are more than capable of beating them. Perhaps neither team is playing well, but 3/1 on a team to win against a team they have already trashed, think it could possibly be a bet.

I do say though I am more than aware that it has happened where the previous result has been turned on it's head & it might happen this time!

However it's 3/1 in one place & Suggest £15

Not great on this one Aaron.
If you want a home dog punt, then Millwall (v Leicester) is a slightly better one.
Millwall are a better home side than Yeovil, and Watford & Leicester are similarly rated away.
31/10 available with BV, which maybe a bit of value.

Not a recommend, yet. If price drifts, which it may do, then I could put it up.

The football run through is a case of the good, the bad and the very ugly

Premier League

Arsenal are top after their Newcastle win, and the finish in the top three bet remains well placed

Liverpool, to finish bottom half, a matter of time til we write that one off

Southampton to be relegated. Again, a matter of time though more patchy form in December has given the slightest glimmer of a slip into the bottom half at some stage

Suarez - a quiet Xmas for most of the leading goalscorers including Suarez, with Aguero and RVP injured. Suarez enters the new Year on 19 goals, six ahead of Aguero and still short-odds on to win the Golden boot for what would be £440 net profit for the thread

Navas - as per the stats posted yesterday in the hunt for top Premier League assister. We also have Santi Cazorla, a bigger bet for top assister, which is surprisingly really struggling. He has under 3 assists and isn't being selected regularly, or wasn't when Ramsey was in such form.

Rodriguez scored twice at Cardiff on Boxing Day and currently has 8 for the season, joint 8th in the goalscorers list

Darren Bent's fortunes have not seen an uptick under Meulensteen, and that bet won't be live til the end of the season

Paulinho has one goal for Tottenham. We need six for the season, at least. Anyone know a treatment for aversion to opponent's penalty boxes?

Newcastle handicap bet looks well placed. Currently if my calcuations are right in the top 4 on the handicaps

The late Sunderland equaliser at Cardiff was tremendous news for the £50 bet on Hull to be top newcomer, coming hard on the heels of Hull's 6-0 win. Hull are 5 points clear of Cardiff and 7 points clear of Palace

We have Palace to win the Premiership handicap and to finish bottom. Not the easiest team to write about for the thread then.I suspect the finish bottom bet is likely to be a runner for longer than the handicap bet, but don't tell Ant

The Cardiff handicap bet doesn't look to be a runner without a dramatic pick up in form

Championship

Leicester are four points clear at the top at the end of the year. According to Bolton Manager Freedman "Leicester are the best team in the league by a million miles and will win the division". Our 4/1 e/w bet wishes it were that easy......It won't be.

Watford seem to have stabilised under their new manager though as of now the team is one point off the top half, 12th being required for a 2/7 season bet not to go up in flames

Reading Championship bet is drifting like a rudderless barge

Barnsley top half bet. Not my finest moment. Nothing worse than seeing a manager change, getting the odd hope up and seeing no recovery in results either.

In slightly better news Doncaster and Sheff Wed remain various shades of awful too, so in the top S Yorks club bet Barnsley are 5 points behind Donny going into the new year, with all three teams in the bottom four

Goalscorers. Nugent scored a pen on boxing day then missed one yesterday. Rhodes and McCormack scored yesterday too

With Nugent, Ings and Vokes each way we have three bets in the hunt though headed into 2014

McCormack 17, Rhodes 15, Ings 13, Martin 12, Nugent 11, Bryson 11, Vokes 10 amongst others.

The wonderful form of Derby has seen Chris Martin and Craig Bryson catapault into contention here with a combined 23 goals

We also have Ulloa top Brighton scorer. He is back from injury and scored at Charlton over Xmas. Two things in favour of this bet. a) He scores goals b) Most of his team-mates don't. Ulloa and Barnes are currently at the top with 6 ahead of Andrew Crofts with 5. We have 5/1.

League One

Most of the interest here has been in the goalscorer markets

We have

Mooney 13 goals

Bamford 14 goals

Wells 14 goals

Assombolonga 11 goals

all in behind Coventry's Leon Clarke with 15

The Tranmere relegation bet is a runner, they are one point and one place off the bottom four

Sheffield United won a game yesterday against Tranmere, to the shock of many regular fans, propelled to victory by Jose Baxter once of Everton's academy.  We need them to win a lot more games to finish top six as they are currently 17th and 13 points off 6th

League Two

A very quiet start for the Portsmouth bet as they failed to win yesterday, held 0-0 at home by the Cobblers. Portsmouth are 11 points off the required top six place

Conference

Kidderminster got stuffed 6-0 at Luton over Xmas. have now only won 9 points out of 27 since their manager was given permission to speak to forest green about their vacancy. On such unexpected jolts to confidence season long bets can flounder, although Kiddy remain in the to 5 and top six on current handicap points

Nothing to do on Philly, we are on

There is definitely some value in Play off outsiders though, there is every year

This might be in individual game spreads or in ante post

San Diego and the Packers were my current thoughts as dangerous teams that have backed into the play-offs a bit unexpectedly and could easily make it, against most consensus views

I have a bet on Taylor(I think...cant be bothered to check) to be top scorer for Ipswich(I think).

Has to be a Fred recommend, even if we didnt do it.

Anyone know how its doing? and if badly, anyone prepared to own up?

One of Ashley Barnes six goals is a cup goal. Ulloa leads 'Brighton Championship Top Goalscorer' by one and is currently 1/2 with BMU.
